112 Days & Counting until the open
Wisconsin

I'll be the one to get the countdown started, 112 days until bow season opens. Time to start getting ready if you have not already been. June and July will blow by before you know it. Then the cool nights of August will give way to the first frost of September. I'm headed to get restrung today. Post anything you are doing to improve your season this year here.
Been practicing on a regular basis. Spring turkey and bear, Africa, FL gator and CO before we get going here will make sure my daughters and I are prepared with respect to shooting. Some spring planting done and a bit more to do yet should take care of the bait plots. Two new waterholes planned but still needing to be dug and God willing, we'll be ready for the bow season.
Been working on my property since bow season ended. Cut atv trails in, cut down some aspen along the 2 acre field, pruned a bunch of apple trees, put a nice size water hole in, and tonight I will get the field planted with beans. Also bought a new bow this year. New2015 Hoyt zt 30 and new arrows. Been a fun year so far, cant wait to see what the fall has in store for me.
My bow is restrung but I need to shoot around 200 arrows and then paper tune and then re-sight the HHA.
Been cutting down loads of cedars preparing trails and a plot. Won't have the plot ready until a fall planting. Got the soil sample done though. This new to me 90 acres was virtually untouched and never improved. There is a reason I got it for the price I did. It will be a labor of "love". Looking forward to years 2 and beyond already because I'm already pooped. Still finishing up improvements on the 4 year young cabin that was never quite finished. I can then get moved in and put the cabin behind me to allow all my focus to be on the woods.
The neighbors will appreciate all your guys hard work.
DT, there is no doubt neighbors benefit from their neighbors land improvement. We also benefit from it and hope that when they do see the benefits it helps to spur them to do some of their own improvements.
Putting in 5 acres of plots on Sat. Planted spruce and apple trees a month ago. I always encourage neighbors to plant plots and trees for cover. Helps with age structure and keeps the deer healthy through the winter.
Hopefully finishing the spring planting this weekend, but no promises. Seems the weather follows me around sometimes!
Also chasing turkeys if I get the chance.
I have it good, all my neighbors spend time money and a lot of effort managing their properties for wildlife.
Everyone shares in the bounty!
Finishing my trails and putting in food plots next week. As far as the neighbor thing, they love it so much they hunt right o our fence lines. You have to love those types.
Pouring over maps, and new spots, in central Wis, need to shoot some does, need the meat in the freezer, will continue to buck hunt up north though, just love it......
Good reminder, I lost both spots and need to start looking for a new spot or two.
razor, I was at Bradley creek off of 22 in Waupaca County yesterday. Does with twin and triplet fawns. Nice looking area and class 3 trout stream as well.
