Here's a good read. Goes to show that Humane Society are formidable players for anti-hunting as PETA.

That article makes it sound like MA is over run by bears. Sucks ive only seen 4 my entire 36 years here and I live in the middle of all of them. Im always amazed on how secretive they are for such a big animal that stands out like a sore thumb. Im hoping to get my first this year before the rule change massacre starts.
I had a close encounter in Northwest NJ. If you want to see what an overpopulation of bear looks like go there. It was so bad I waited till light to walk to my stand and my buddy ended up taking his stand out of the thick stuff and moving it to more wide open woods. Its no joke ovef there google bears in NJ and their will be story after story of encounters. Compared to there I wouldnt worry about it around our area yet.
they say if you see a bear make yourself big, hoot n holla...i forgot to bring my pots and pans one dark n foggie morning walking to my stand..i was bluff charged..talk about shit your pants!!..i had body fluids coming out of everywhere and wanted to crawl up into a little ball...havent been to american legion sf since..the only thing worse besides being eatin is when they mill around your stand at sunset..thats a scary ass run back..this was 10 yrs ago before there was a bear problem
Quite honestly, that's the only thing that scares me on the walk to the stand or back to the truck in the dark. Was just remarking to my co-workers that I'm going out to buy some bear spray this week. "Notme" there's no doubt I would've shit my pants if that had been the case with me.
Try following one after the shot that's scary and with the bow .
Yup, the bear in NJ wanted my deer also. The standoff lasted a few minutes and the only legal protection in NJ is an airhorn. Needless to say I felt pretty helpless. He walked away after a bunch of airhorn blasts but not at first. If you want to watch something cool go to youtube and look up NJ bear bluff charge. That woman is crazy trying to get her treehugger point heard.
After that video watch woman wakes sleeping bear. Same woman different crazyness. Kind of amazing though.
are there any "man wakes sleeping beaver" vids.?..sorry,couldnt resist..lmao..come on spike your slipping..lol
thats a mighty fine bald beaver..
HSUS are such a bunch of disengenuous phonies.
They don't like dog hunting because its not "fair play".
What if any pro hunting legislation have then not opposed? Is there any hunting they consider to be "fair play"?
Some one should ask: so, if no dogs are involved you would be in favor of hunting?
Hunted in NJ for over 30 years now and we NEVER saw bears, now we see more bear then deer most days. I've had many encounters with bears down there. Most of the time they don't stick around long. Had a couple that just didn't care and went about there business causing me to change my plans. I hope CT doesn't get like this. In my opinion NJ waited way to long to start hunting them.
Living in the NW corner over the past 2-3 years I've gone from seeing bears a few times a year to seeing them at least a few times a month, some months at least a sighting a week.
A property I've hunted in Harwinton since 1999 has a few bears and a couple of springs ago while moving a stand I spotted a sow with triplets. I've actually spoken on the phone with Paul Rego a few times and he's convinced the estimates on the number of bears is off by at least 50% (no comments from the peanut gallery-LOL!).
Given the number of well-to-do NYer's who like their getaway house in the Litchfield hills and think bears are cute and like to feed them I think it's only a question of time before something (and I hope it's a pet and not a child) gets mauled.
By the way you guys are talking Id have better luck bear hunting there. I would believe your population is bigger than they say.
i remember deep did some kind of bear study a couple of years back..i was in newburys talking to a deep guy about it..he said they counted plenty of 200# bears but were really impressed on how many they counted in the 400~500# range, and how many were dening under peoples porches without them knowing about it..i had 2 in a spot in torrington that looked like fury vw's come through every 6-8 days..very impresive and scary
Think I saw one on the Merritt this morning, roadkill on the left hand side of the median in the northbound lanes. Pretty torn up, but the fur appeared to be from a black bear.
It was about a mile before the first exit for Wallingford, exit 64 if I'm not mistaken.
You going to grab the Knee bones?
If they had them. Only hoofed animals have them. I'll take the skull.
big bucks for the skull, vulture culture people pay..i think 50 for an intact coyote skull..
dude, did you shit, err shoot?..dont leave me in suspence man!!..until a political person or a kid gets eatin nothing will be done..
Did he bluff attack you? Hey, there is no bear pic and I see not coffee stain on your junk. Are you trying to influence the membership for participating in a bear hunt petition? We need conclusive proof, dead body and/or any kind of visible stains.

Eh he wasnt attacking, they just have a thing for hazelnut and french vanilla. Six lomaz, why you looking at his junk? Lol.
