That got your attention!!
Folks your going to love this. Today jumped about a 200lb boar. It decided to go where we didnt want it too. That or our dogs were trying to bring home a pet, lol Knowing the dogs were on it's butt, and it was worn down. Knew that if I packed it would go up in less than 500yds. Letting it go would do it again. Let them get across safely and several vehicles were nice enough to stop and get to see the bear. Came from state land and went into state land!! After traffic was gone dropped the gate. Did just what I thought. So doubt it will ever go that way again. NOW THE FUN PART. 5 people. Yes 5 people. Called the warden telling him my dogs had killed a fawn and were eating on the road. Of course he had to come to that. Looked around at the supposed scene. Heard the dogs. Figured we were parked up a small dead end road. He drove up and seen my truck. Right then he knew these calls were just BS. People just have nothing better to do with their live. Ticked over a min delay, or maybe them stupid goats. Just stupid regardless!! Never have I had happen, or heard of something like this! People need to get a life!
Sounds like a case of hunter harassment for those idiots calling the warden. Hope the warden makes contact with the caller to let them know that making a false report like that is illegal.
Yet, when you reported stolen property, you can't get a minute of anyone's time. Perhaps the warden should be going back to the people who reported this to tell them the facts and tell them to get their facts straight next time. You are having quite the season so far Stever when it comes to dealing with idiots.
I was shooting my rifle on my land (14 acres with 500' lake frontage) when the Warden, who I knew, showed up. Someone called and said I was shooting the Loons. I asked him why I would shoot them. They aren't good eating. He saw my shooting bench and target, and told me to have a good day.
This reminds me of a call I got from a deputy last summer. He says a women was driving by our house and saw my 15 year old son shooting a pellet gun. I said yes so what. He said the woman is sure my son shot her car and scratched it. I asked him if he had seen the "damage" he said it was hard to tell on her 20 year old minivan. I told him he was welcome to come and look at our shooting set up with a BULLET catcher behind the targets. He told me it was fine, and he had to follow up. Funny though when I have trespassers and call, they NEVER follow up.
Yeah it is funny how they came running for that, but none of the other crap I deal with.
Mostly meet a lot of great people. Happy to slow down, say hello, even talk about critters. Had 2 of them this afternoon. 1 guy stopped and talked with us long enough to see the bear twice. Another older couple come by on a private road. Pulls up and tells me to get them damm things out of my bird feeders.
These guys from TN have even said several times. How nice the people up here are. You wont see this back home. For those most part they are right. Just like anything else a few bad apples. Biggest compliment from them was today. Got called a stickler for the rules. Thanks!!
As long as the clients know that they have to play by the state's and your rules and actually do just that all is good. A guide can't have it any other way and expect to stay out of trouble. Sometimes a client makes a bad mistake (like shooting a cub) you just have to call the law and hope the client and warden are understanding with the situation. Had to do just that, the warden took the cub and the guys license and tag and believed it was an honest mistake. (sized it looking through a scope and never looked at it without the scope.)
You never know when a client is an undercover warden either. It happened to a guide that I know. The guy (fed) kept pushing to cross the line. When he wanted to use his partners tag after shooting his own bear he knew it was a setup.
