A 19-year-old Ripon man authorities say participated in the "thrill killing" of 15 deer during the closing weekend of the 2014 gun deer hunting season will serve six months in jail and lose his hunting privileges for 12 years.
No fine? Isn't the fine for illegally shooting deer around 2g's? That would (should) be 30 grand.
All fines do is push the burden on to the taxpayers cause most of these bozos don't have any money so they end up sitting the time out anyway.

Jail does the same thing, they don't operate for free.
$6,800 in fines, and this isn't his first conviction. I'm going to guess that is won't be his last, either. Sick to get a thrill out of it.
Fifteen deer killed on final weekend of the gun hunt, when many didn't even fill one purchased tag. Should lose all guns and be unable to purchase/possess any legally.
When are our judges going to start giving sentences significant enough to deter these types of things. In my opinion this guy as a repeat offender deserves a maximum sentence! While some may learn from a foolish mistake and minor consequences, repeat offenders that are just playing the system. Worse yet the media labels these guys as hunters when in fact they are just criminals. Way to much tolerance in our society!

This may be the case but the sentence is always separate from the fines. There for the person more then likely will end up back in jail to serve the time for the fines rather then paying the money. It is happening more and more. Fines are not a deterrent anymore but jail and prison time are for most.
Hope this punk falls out of his highest treestand.

Agreed. I'm always amazed at the slap-on-the-wrist approach of the criminal justice system in WI. Several years ago some clown hit my father's car in the parking lot where he worked. When he ran the guy's name through WCCA he found over a half dozen DUIs and no jail time. What a joke.
With something like this I think they should also take his hunting privileges away for life, I wonder why it's only 12 years?
JRW, when entering the country illegally, murdering babies, making sensitive information available to our enemies and throwing rocks at cops is acceptable, why should a game violation matter?
Well said CaptMike. We are heading in the wrong direction and better turn this ship around quickly cause there is a giant iceberg ahead.
What do you mean "giant iceberg ahead" is it the cold hard reality of
liberal control for ever and the two thirds we don't see is what is
really going to sink us?
