Let's get things started with some great bow harvested bear photos. This chocolate is from Manitoba and I shot it on Sept. 1st.

Sorry GoJakes, we must have made the post request at the same time. :)

Another Manitoba bear from my friend.

Saw a dead bear in the 200# range in the ditch between Cable and Drummond this evening. There was a car with flashers on parked by it but it definitely not the auto that hit the bear. Bear was on it's back with all 4 legs sticking up in the air so it had been there a little while. Did not bother to stop.

Was in Drummond again today picking up some Kayaks. The bear was still there so I stopped. Pretty ripe and not as big as I thought. Couldn't be much over 100# dressed. Toes on both frond feet ground down apparently from sliding on the pavement.

Sorry, not a bow kill. I don't understand why we need multiple threads with various kinds of pictures.

I've actually never seen a dead bear on the side of the road due to a car/truck collision. Does that happen often up north? Always plenty of dead dear on I-94, just have never seen a bear.

Way less frequent than deer collisions but not uncommon either. I saw 2 in the ditches on Highway 53 this year. They can do serious damage to a car.

A neighbors friend nailed one that was close to 500 dressed right by the casino east of Hayward several years ago. He was lucky his truck was still drivable and sheriff was nearby (they are always somewhere near the casino) to put it down with his shotgun. We spent most of the nite skinning and quartering it so we could get the hide and meat in freezers.

Surprised by the lack of bear harvest photos on any of the threads that were started. Did anyone go bear hunting?

Still sitting and waiting! They are hammering the baits after dark and sleeping on the baits.

Still waiting here as well. I've got plenty of bear coming in but there is a good one, probably 300 plus that has been coming in that I'm waiting for. Since season started he had only been in in the daylight twice and I wasn't there both times. I've been out of town since Wednesday so I'm hoping everything settles down and we cross paths. Good luck to all.

I saw four on the night I shot this one. I had two baits going and one was very spotty but I had a giant coming in there but opted for the more current bait. My Nieghbor also shot one a week after I did. I had my bait on the edge of acorn flat so I still had bears coming even after they started dropping

Things really started to die down at my bait this week and the good bear I had been hoping for and had been on camera every day hadn't showed in a week so I decided now was the time to concentrate on taking one of the other bear I had been seeing which wasn't gonna be real easy because they pretty much quit coming in and when they were it was at night. I was pretty nervous because I've passed up a lot of bear this year and now all of a sudden they seemed to disappear and I'm down to just over a week to go.

I got in Saturday and was disappointed to see that the bait had not been touched. I'd gone from seeing 18 bear in a day to really thinking I may not see another one this season. I was set by 3:00, the wind was supposed to be good for this stand but it was swirling all over, not much I could do about that. About 5:15 I saw one working his way in so I got ready. He came out and he looked pretty decent but he seemed a little apprehensive about coming in. Eventually he did and when he grabbed some food and turned away I drew but something wasn't right. Earlier I had put on gloves after I put my release on and now the glove was getting in the way of me reaching my release trigger comfortably. Not much I can do at this point so I started to bend to get my pin on the bear then all of a sudden thwack!!! My bow released and the arrow stuck into a tree about 14 feet high right behind the bear. He wasn't too affected by it and went back to eating. I tried to grab another arrow which wasn't real easy because I had my quiver stashed into an evergreen tree next to me. I finally got one out and knocked, adjusted my glove a little and waited for him to put his head down and drew again. This time I made sure I kept my hand and fingers away from the trigger but it still didn't feel right, my peep and kisser weren't really lining up but I was able to get my pin on my target and a good hold so I released and the arrow went over his back!! This is at 13 yards!! Again the bear wasn't alarmed, he checked out the arrow and sniffed it a couple times and went back to eating. This time I slowly was able to work my glove off and get another arrow knocked. Again as soon he turned away I drew and with my glove now off I felt real comfortable. When he came back in and was broadside I held behind the shoulder a little and released, the arrow hit right where I was aiming and he took off. I could see blood coming out as soon as the arrow hit and knew he was hit real good. He made it about 20 yards, piled up, gave 1 moan and that was it. I've taken many animals over the years all over the country and I have to say even though this isn't my biggest bear (actually my smallest at about 150# or 160# dressed) it was probably my most exciting and enjoyable hunt. What a blast. Cant wait to do it again......in 10 more years. Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone.

I'm also not sure why we need multiple bear threads either, but here is my son's first bear (age 12) harvested on public land in Zone C over the weekend.
