This does not surprise me.

I didn't have a lot of faith in the DNR when it comes to deer management before this. All I have to say is that this does not surprise me one bit.
Relax for those that are DNR brown nosers. I know this probably isn't real.
Mine have kind of gotten over grown by my spruce trees I'll move them out a bit so they get an accurate count. for the record 1 buck 1 doe and a fawn!
Glad they didn't include my 3D targets.
That explains the over inflated population estimates.
Sounds like some people are irritated about over killing during the EAB years. Another reason to not always believe the WDNR population counts. Or another reason to relax on the trigger pull when you see a doe or even a buck. It doesn't hurt to watch deer once in a while. Hard lessons learned for some I guess.
I can say this....last Saturday a friend and I hunted my 15 acres. Between the two of us we so nearly 30 deer. Some we both saw and other deer only one of us saw. So some are being counted twice. But still there are plenty of deer in the areas were smart landowners managed instead of the WDNR.
West Branch,
Because the governor of our state, whether Republican or Democrat, is the one with a clipboard out walking properties counting deer.
And the DNR was such a "well-oiled machine" when Doyle was in office.
This is ridiculous. Bang on Walker all you want, but the DNR has had severe operational flaws and deficiencies for decades, not just the last 3 years.
WB,
Obviously the voters disagree with your little socialist opinion, ALL 3 TIMES!!!
Orion,
Based on the picture evidence, the DNR would estimate that there are 37 deer out in that field.
"Based on the picture evidence, the DNR would estimate that there are 37 deer out in that field."
+1 and at least 12 of those 37 have CWD so all 37 should be eradicated to slow the spread of the disease.
You guys crack me up. Here are another 73 deer in the yard for you.
