So whats the verdict? Double or single bevel? Looking at the Dirt NAP DRTs....
I shoot 175 grain VPA's, easy sharpen and a tough head. Shawn
I shoot fixed blade broadheads.... G-5 100 grains... i used to shoot muzzys 100 grain also... did not like putting them together.... i was just given a gift of 12 rage mechanicals.... I helped a guy track a deer for 1.6 miles.... i found the deer for him and he was was very happy.
Rage suck!!!!..zwickey 125
The only broadhead I have had major problems with are WASP... when I contacted the company they didnt care and blew me off...
I think WASP is a CT. comany
Is it my imagination or does it look like that deer was shot below its left eye? I am shooting RamCat 100s. Did the trick last year.. Thinking about trying the hartcrafts
Lots of good broad heads out there
I use slick trick 100 grain and always have had good luck with them with good blood trails ...
Replacement blades are a good price Easy to put together
Out of my bow they fly the same as field tips
I think that is the key .... How does your bow shoot them
I shoot wasp jackhammer 1"3/4 mechanical 100grain never had a problem with them opening or busting through bone
I agree with previous post use the broadhead that shoots true out of your bow,,,, I shoot a hoyt xtec bow, easton axis arrows with G-5 100 gr broadheads.... I know the bow is a liitle outdated but it still performs very well... also shoot a tenpoint xbow with easton bolts and G-5 broadheads,,,, crazy accurate.
I have been shooting rage for 5 years now,I have never lost a deer with them,I love how they tune and fly ,I have shot them out of Mathews and now a Elite and they fly just like a field point. No adjusting needed all the way out to 60 yards,I still wait for a good shot,I like waiting for a quartering away shot.Still about shot placement.
Garbanzo, it looks like a war wound or he got caught with a stick running through the woods. Shawn
Ok . So I'm gonna be honest . I have shot a few different broads . From fixed to mechanical. Expensive and cheap to compare . I will say the ones I have been using for the last 3 season I bought right at Walmart they run 20 but KS and work very very well and are very durable . They are the newer torrid ss 100gr three blade 1.5 cut .. they fly true and leave a hell of a hole .
Yes!! I absolutely use a broadhead! ;)
First I tried hunting with a broad but she asked for the head. So I ditched her for a silent non-demanding fixed WASP broadhead. I never looked back since.
Flint with sinew tying it to a straight stick I find that morning in the woods. I dont take the bark off. The friction of bark disturbs the air during flight like a golf ball's dimples and allows for more speed and quieter flight. I use dead leaves glued on with pine sap for fletch, that way they are green early season and natural brown late season - perfect camo.
;)...
Shoot...that sounds like BBB's first set up. Lol
Don't forget, the walk to his hunting spot is uphill both ways in 4 feet of snow:)
No one answered my question....
Single bevel or double bevel? Edge sharp on both sides or just one....
And don't be a hater...loin cloths are the in thing.
I didnt want to scare you guys. Ever see that TV show Naked and Affraid. Yea, that's how I hunt. I just find a mud hole and wallow around in it, then roll in leaves so it's an Au Naturale leafy suit. Home owners look a little concerned when I hunt suburban areas... but so be it - gotta do what you gotta do.
Sorry Madness. It's friday, and our season in MA is still a week our, and I didnt get to hit CT. I'm suffering withdrawl...
On real heads, double bevel, but that's only because I use mech's (2.3" rages) with 1 slick mag for days I use the blind with shoot through mesh.
135gr zwickey eskilite 2 edge..easy to sharpen , flies true...uncle Ted says so.
I'm wearing my loin cloth now in preparation of tomorrows hunt
Double bevel. It will have a sharper edge.
Pic's or it didnt happen notme...
Bahhhh ha ha ha! :)
Double bevel Magnus Buzzcut. Single bevel if I run into a CT Cape Buffalo:)
Ashbys study on single bevel performance is interesting though.
I use slick trick 100 grain fly great
