How are the Javelina numbers looking this year? Are they in normal areas? And herd sizes? Or has the wetter, greener year shifted them around and spread herds thinner???

Unfortunately I don't live in javelina country and don't get to see many herds until the hunting season. I don't really have a great pulse on the herds but it seems to me that numbers are down a bit compared to 5 or 10 years ago.

So far this winter, I've been finding the same herds hanging around in the same drainages where they've always been in the past. As far as overall numbers, they're about the same as they've been the past five years or so, but maybe up just a little bit more. All in all though, it's about the same as what I've been seeing the past several years.

I'm hearing they are thick this year, from people in various units. I'm headed out Thursday, saw tons on my coues hunt in the unit in November.

Good! Hopefully we can spot some. With all that rain the grass may be TALL...

Sorry I don't have a real update. I was not able to get in the field this year. My drought continues...

I didn't tag one, but had one of my best days ever. 36 pigs spotted in one day.
