I'm regretting on passing this deer. After getting trail cam pics. I didn't realize how old and scrubby he is. Curious what you think on his age?

6.5/7.5 yo

A side view to gauge length/depth would help but face certainly looks like a Grandpa! I shot a similar-faced (but a scrubby, deformed rack) old-timer in Michigan's U.P. more than a decade ago, voluntary check station DNR guys estimated at 7.5! Was not even a heavy deer but that's pretty common up there (way too many deer on the landscape for available year-round forage).

we have an old fat pig this year that we know is 6.5yo based on the last 2 years. Great main beams, huge g2's and thats it. Watched him do nothing while chasing all around him. He needs a viagra mineral lick now.

November that's funny! Naz I'll post a couple more pics for you. I too was thinking 6 or 7 also, Nov.

Thick and deep, definitely looks old! Any summer pics?

No summer pics. He came to this scrape a couple times during the last week of October. And that was it. 1 visual sighting and no pics since.

no more than 4 years old.
the face may look old, but the body doesn't show that.
In fact one of my guests shot an scrubby 8 point yearling a few weeks ago, that had a face like a 10 year old. all grey and white, and with scars. But the buck's body made him no older than 18 months.

Definitely not saying your wrong. Just looks like a old deer. Long thick neck, droopy eyes, and a smaller body. You may be right. But I'm agreeing with Nov. on this one. Naz never gave a age but indicated a older deer also. Hoping for other opinions. Realistically, only one way to find out. Maybe I can get the crosshairs on him.

I would guess him to be 5.5. He could very well be older than that, but I guess that simply based on the odds of a buck making it each additional year beyond that...

I guess 4. His face says 5-6 but his body says 3-4. He's a cool deer. Not going to score much but definitely mature. I'd shoot him.

I agree with those who say the body looks 3-4. I'd go with 5 based on the face and rack.

I feel confident he's around that happy. Hard to guess with his scrubby rack. But his face sure does look old. Thanks for the input guys. It's always fun trying to figure out an age on some deer. Most deer you can get an idea in seconds. This one stumped me.
