LI pheasants

apologies to the mods - not really an archery question here...

with a little ten point and a doe on the ground the freezer is full for me, but the hunting itch is still going strong... ducks don't open for another week or 2, so i am thinking about trying to bag a pheasant at Otis Pike or Rocky Point. I am doing some google scouting, and it seems like just about all the land is heavily wooded - not exactly what i think of when i think pheasants.

i don't think there are really any "secret spots" when it comes to hunting on state land on LI, but i'm not looking for your secret spot if you have one. however, i am curious if you have any thoughts on spots that are more grassy rather than woods. if you don't want to share with the world, please PM me.

Check Otis Pike 34-37 on the top parcel. There is a field there, with a perimeter trail that loops around it. Was in the stand one late afternoon, some years ago, heard a truck going through the property.. It was DEC releasing birds..
