You can do either. You can apply online and wait for them to mail it to you or you can drive to the headquarters of the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks in Pierre and purchase one and get it right away.

I picked up a SD deer hunting brochure last month and it was confusing to me. As a current nonresident I was interested in both a West and East archery tag. Was not sure that was possible. I assume as a resident one can get both a West and East River bow tag ?? I look forward to residing in your state soon and need to "bone up" on the regs.

you can buy them online, mail, or directly at the SD GFP HQ. TO answer the how many tags you can have it is either 1 statewide any deer tag or 1 east and 1 west river tag but not all 3. Also you can buy a anterless tag for the areas that are open.
