I was turning around in my truck and spotted this amongst the corn stocks. Thought it a little early. Still has the wet blood on it that froze but did not dry.

Is that a shed, or did the pedicle break off? That's a lot of bone below the base of the antler.

I've found a matched set of sheds during gun season before in PA. I also killed one shed buck in PA on the last Thursday of our season thinking it was a doe. I guess it's not that uncommon, I think when a buck sheds this early there is some sort of reason either stressed from pressure and the rigors of the rut or the deer has an injury.

I know, Herd, it looks like a piece of the skull. I have found lots of them like that in past years.

Do you think he was turned into a doe with a kick? ( I've seen it done from a distance.)

A little spike that's been running around behind the house has dropped his already. I can tell it's him because he only has a short nubbin for a tail - kinda like a reindeer's tail.
New Years eve at about 10pm I let the dogs out and strolled down to the edge of the yard with them when I thought I heard some antlers ticking together. Went back to the house for a flashlight and by the time I got back, two bucks were going at it pretty good. It didn't sound like those two were ready to give up on the rut just yet.

I was out Tuesday on January 5th and had a shed buck walk by at 15 yards. He was limping pretty bad so I'm assuming that's probably why he shed so early. He didn't look to good!

Found a dead dear carcus this morning. 8 point. Saw a nice live buck with a high half rack too.

Another half rack walked thru the front yard this evening before dark. Snows too deep here to find sheds unless they are big ones.

Many still holding and yes, the ticks are out! Found one two days ago that is a year or two old, wish I would have found it fresh, nice 5 point side.

Hope that deer can't read the sign Andy. Found these today. Looks like I should have a couple nice ones around this fall. I would like to see how the one on the right grows up this year Kodiak.

I've found 7 so far all in PA can't seem to find one in Ohio and all my big bucks lived over there but did get a picture of one 10 over there still carrying both sides in early March so maybe that's the reason.

Found the first one this year a couple weeks ago. Little guy but none the less a graduate into the next age class. Really haven't had much of a chance to do some walling yet but will do more looking in the next couple weeks. The good news is that I have identified a dozen separate bucks on trail cam that made it through the seasons. Unheard of and unprecedented in my area for sure!!!

Found one yesterday while walking the lower line of our mountain farm. Very similar to Kodiaktd up a few posts. I'll try to get a photo today. I don't hunt them...just lucked into it.

Katie, the kids, and I were out spotting last night, when we saw a gigantic 10 point buck, chasing does around a field! With his head gear intact, tongue hanging out, harassing the ladies, I had to check my calendar to make sure we were still in March! This has been the craziest year I can remember, and certaintly the latest I've seen "rut activity"!

I found 3 more close to the house around the first of April and they were not where I found them back in March. Only 2 came from the same deer, so that makes 10 from 9 different bucks. Those guys ought to look pretty nice come September.
