Southeast Montana mule deer numbers

Can anyone provide any general information on overall mule deer numbers in this area? I am looking for someplace to spot and stalk mule deer in badlands type terrain. I have heard that the mulie numbers were down but have started climbing back in the last couple of years.

I believe what you have heard is correct. Mule deer numbers are showing a slight increase in numbers pretty much all over "eastern Montana".
