Any interest?

Any interest out there for a block shoot similar to the Muzzy shoot. It would be held in the SW corner of the state.
Bob, you are "far more in the know" about what a Muzzy shoot is, and what a block shoot is. I know I'm just a lowly gatherer, lefty to boot, but any details or explanations about what the event might be would help...at least me....!!!!
If it involves a bow, though, I'm listening....
A "Muzzy" or block shoot is a course similar to 3-D where the targets are blocks of styrofoam velcro'd to stumps or similar bases.
If I have this right it goes like this................Two archers shoot against each other. Max points per target is 1. The archers take turns shooting, each getting one shot. The first to knock the block off the base gets 1 point. If both miss they move on to the next target. This procedes until the end of the course. Archer with most points moves on to next round. Archer with less goes into the loser brackets.
Through process of elimination an eventual winner is crowned.
I played it many moons ago at Denton during a PBS odd year gathering. One of my favorite memories of Bob Krout.
Yes, I'm interested.
A block shoot is just that. It is a competition that is set up similar to a 3D course. However, you shoot at styrofoam blocks about the size of an index cards set at random distances. It is an elimination tournament and you shoot head to head against another person. You alternate first shots with your opponent as you travel the course. If the first guy misses, you get a chance to kill his target. If he hits, you move on to the next target and you get first shot.
You score one point for each block. The winner of the round moves on to the next flight.
Eventually you have two shooters in the shoot off and a winner is determined.
It is best to shoot judos or any point that will stop when hitting the ground. The guys setting the course try to set up the course using the lay of the land to create natural backstop.
The Muzzy shoot in NY gets over 100 shooters.
If we get enough interest, it will probably happen in early May.
I'm interested. Will have to see how things go. Please keep us informed. Thanks.
So can I start in the Losers Bracket? Itd be awesome to win that!:)
Sounds like fun Bob! I'd go..... Course I'll probably have to work:(
EARLY May sounds very do-able, like the 7th or 14th. Sounds like something I'd shoot. I'd be competing against Hajas/Metikki in his category.
I refuse to shoot with left handers:)
Bob what yardages are common?
I think they should all be over 65 yds..... Harry's arrows don't go that far:)
Those lefties shoot 3 fingers over, don't they? :^)
Ya something like that if ya wanna call what they do shooting:)
I think the standard block is either an 8x8 or 6x6, should be able to hit that at any range. 65yd and in is a gimmee.
"I think they should all be over 65 yds..."
"65yd and in is a gimmee."
I think you fellers oughta check back with Bob. When he described those target blocks, he was talkin' INCHES not feet. :^)
But then again, if we're talkin' about RC shootin', then I'd believe 65 yards at a 6" x 6" is a gimme. I seen pics of his groups. :^)
Then I won't feel bad when I beat you RC.I was brought up to respect my elders, so I will have to respectfully out shoot you. Lol.
Bring your check book son:)
I deal in cash. But I will take your check, so you don't have to carry so much cash. I shoot better when challenged. I will even bring my longbow, not my recurve unaided bow.
I'm game. Can I shoot a "trad" crossbow? <')))><
How many stages per round Bob? I want to be sure I have enough bolts on hand. <')))><
Dale, if you show up and happen to win... I will buy you a round of hot dogs. <')))><
Oh boy... Here we gooooo!
Sounds fun, I'd be interested!
Bob, is this an open "class" shoot? I thought there was a maximum of rimfire ammo. Ron got me thinking? <')))><
Dale be careful about short changing Randy on arrow cast. I once witnessed a Randy ricochet shot that well surpassed 65 yards. Fact it even went of club grounds. (Sorry HC:)
I'd be interested Bob.
