I finished this bow rack this morning. Made with a few pieces of live edge osage and antlers I'd been tripping over in the shop.

My guess would have been sassafrass. Very nice.

Well they're similar in sapwood/heartwood ratio, Art. And further in your defense, the heart wood is much more yellow looking in person. I doubt you'd have guessed sassafras in person.
There's a few sassafras bows hanging there though ;^)

If it were any other bows than the ones you made Jeff, I'd have recommended you not have anything hanging from that work of art.
But all of those beautiful bows only enhances the beauty of your craftsmanship. Very, very nice!

Thanks fellas. I appreciate the kind words.
It does make me think about how I might change the way I cut and/or split certain osage logs from now on.

Thanks. Glad yinz like it. It feels good to see them hung up for a change. I was always afraid the dog would chew on their rawhide, sinew, or fish skin backings.

Is that some sort of nautical navigation equipment there Roy?
That's a nice "d/r" stave there in the middle. Is it osage?
From: Dave G.

Jeff, that ain't no stave, that there is RC's huntin' bow.
Only way he can get the draw weight up enough to use it for deer is to leave a bit o' wood on them limbs. :^)
No wonder his dang shoulder hurts. :^)

Yes it is Osage. Gonna be a selfbow one of these days:)
I'm gonna mount that fancy sight on it too:) LMAO

That thing will probably rot before you make a bow out of it. You better let me have a shot at it ;^)

If you want it, it's yours. It's 4 years old now and well seasoned, and awesome growth rings. BUT, ya have to come and get it and attend one of our Bownanzas...
So I guess it's mine.. LOL
