Thank you. Only reiterates what I have been posting here all along.
Great report. Wish I had permission around that pond!
There is 1 spot on there that I had 8 acres to hunt this year I didn't go back because lack of deer on the camera there wasn't 1 deer at the spot could of save a lot of time if I had this before .LOL
Haha Steve. Sorry about that. I had posted the locations of deer we spotted from the chopper in 2013 and 2014 as well. You must have missed them.
Nehunter. You do have permission around that pond!! That's Huntington State Park. It's open to archery hunting. That's where we ground truthed things because we could not believe how many deer where there. And judging by all the sign we saw, there were exactly that many. And that's the area the guys were claiming densities were "dangerously low." That's where the 48 deer were removed from over the 3-year study.
Doc, Good to know but I only hunt the big woods of Cornwall and Sharon. If you did a flyover up there you might run out of gas looking for a Deer!

there's plenty of deer in the NW corner, the DEEP said so for years now. Oh wait, they were wrong. Their deer survey techniques were not accurate, even though they were adamant that hunters didn't have any scientific evidence of a reducing herd to prove our claims. Hmmmmmmm, sounds very familiar!
bbb I was joking, there is plenty of Deer on my private land properties in the NW. You just have to hunt to find them. I have always said that every Year we have an abundance of acorns everybody complains about lack of Deer sightings.
Private vs state is not the same.

the good thing about having private land permission, especially if you're the only one on the land, is that you can manage the deer herd for yourself. If you want to shoot just mature bucks, you can. If you want to harvest a does or two, you can. Most guys I run into on state land shoot anything that moves, not all, but most.
Find some private land. Problem solved.
I put a lot of time in finding private land, but its rewards are ten fold. Some of my best spots are State Land that abuts private, the Deer don't know the difference.
Yup. That's where they are. On the periphery between big woods and residential areas. You got it figured out. It's not rocket science, right?

I have no problem finding deer. My comments were about the decline in the deer herd in the nw corner. No science required just common sense.
If you have "no problem finding deer," why are you calling, harassing, and posting here about DEEP negligence in the NW corner? If you have "no problem finding deer," what is the problem? I'm super confused. . .
