A friend of mine that lives in Penna. has a son that lives in Missoula. The dad has been after me to go an hunt with him and his son. Everything is looking good for this Sept. But, I cannot be 100% sure. Can I or could I buy an OTC elk tag? I think the units are 210, 211, or 212. I think. I would know for sure about the middle of Aug. or the last of Aug. Thanks

You can hunt all three of those units on a general tag but be careful in unit 212 as it does has some restrictions. Make sure to consul the regs.
You have to have your NR application in for your Elk Combination license or the Big Game Combo by 3/15. There are generally combo licenses left over that will go OTC in July (I think) But I wouldn't chance it if I wanted to go this year. Price stays the same.
Before you can apply for your combo you must buy a conservation license ($8).

Good advice above. You will need either a NR Big Game Combo (Includes General elk license, General deer license, fishing, upland birds) or a NR Elk Combo (includes general elk license, fishing, upland birds) to hunt those areas. As stated above, there have been some leftover licenses available the last few years, but if you really want to go, I wouldn't chance it. in 2015, the Big Game Combos were sold out by August. There were still Elk Combos left at that time, but you never know what 2016 will bring.

There have been leftover licenses for the last 5 yrs. I really doubt you would have any problem getting one in Sept
