This site is so negative. Negative people waiting to spin the $hi7, just to piss people off. This is a site to catch up on current events and politics. That's alright and everything but. I have never seen such a divided group of people sharing the same hobby. No one can share anything. Some people need to ask themselves? Why did I come to this site? For me it was to hopefully learn a thing or two from some guy that's been doing it for decades. I was hopeful to connect the dots to theories of my own. But instead someone tries to shed some light on a topic. And the other guy jumps on and says "horn porn" is killing the future. And the real topic gets spun. The the negative comment sets sail and comments roll in like wild fire. Why can't this site be hunting related? All the negative topics are the active ones. Not that anyone cares and I know someone will say your free to leave if you don't like it. I know, I've been around long enough to consider it. But the hunters like smokey, cheesehead, elk, happy, crusader. And some of the others I haven't mentioned actually keep me here. But it been to long. So cmon guys. Let's talk some real hunting!?
Well put!
Tonight on the way home I stopped by the local archery shop and looked at some Millenium Hang On M100 Stands and a double wide ladder stands.
Has anyone had any experience with these stands? Good or bad?
Thanks in advance.
Commercial ladder stands are all noisy. The square tube with each connecting section and all the bolts just sing a squeaking sound with any little shift in your weight or movement of the tree. Even as sunlight hits the ladder connections and heats the metal connections the parts move against each other and another squeak. I have never been in one that you could effectively bow hunt from. Many hang on stands make significant noise when you move too.
Sorry to be negative but that is just the simple way they are.

Well said Ryan(Noc8) I really like your posts and you seem to get it. Thanks for your contributions to bowsite its a better place with you here.
HunterR +++++++ Great post
Well said.
Ladder stands are nice but they do tend to make noise even when set up right.
I have some. The Millennium M100 & 150 are probably one of the most comfortable tree stands out there because of the sway seat. They are well built. If you have a bad back you can sit all day. The 150 is huge, once set it is awesome. The 100 doesn't have the leg room but both are rock solid. I refuse to use these tree stands for bear hunting, will not take a chance on bears damaging the seats.
Thanks for the input. I know ladder stands are noisy, but I have an older friend who feels safer in them.
Personally I like hangons, nothing is exactly quiet the way we want them to be.
Mike F, there are some easy and economical ways to quiet down nosiey ladder stands. If you need some tips, shoot me a PM. If you are fairly close, I would even come and help you re-work them. As far as the OP talking about it being negative here. That's to be expected when the mods got over zealous a while back and drove off or banned many good folks. Then you have now where they seem to let anything go. Bowsite is a great site/board. Unfortunately it's not nearly as great as it use to be. We just have to ignore the bad and hope the good people stick around. Sometimes it's best to just take a Bowsite break for awhile.
Well stated Noc8, it's amazing how so many grown men on here sound like my 15 year old son who already "knows it all". I enjoy that folks have different views and opinions than mine. A couple posts on here have even changed my opinion on certain things. But it drives me nuts when folks continue to beat a dead horse on certain subjects. It's great to state your perspective on a subject and the reasons why you feel the way you do but it gets rediculous when folks get offended because someone dosnt share that same opinion.
Mike f. , the only I know as far as quieting stands down is outdoor carpet zip tied on the foot platform and when I put my stands together I coat the pieces that slide into one another in petroleum jelly. This coating seems to help as my old stands are much noisier. I also ratchet them down as tight as possible to help avoid any possibility of shifting.
Nocturnal8 Was on here for years then dropped out because of all the negitivity. Very dedicated bunch of hunters on Archery hunters by the years of hunting from the one post. But love to beat each other up on the sport nothing. More the antis / lobbyist love to divide and conquer. And they do monitor the site along with dozens of others. Options are good. But. The bashing a will. Take the sport down!!
I have a different opinion of this site. Yes, there is some negative, and bashing. There always will be when a group of people get together in a place with different opinions. However, there are far worse forums out there. One has even taken on the name of the gripe site. A place where no matter what is said. Someone will contradict you in some way. That is not always the case here. Generally there are a bunch of really good people here willing to help and share their collective knowledge. A bit of negative is always to be expected.
We have a couple of the cheaper M25 millenium stands and so far they are very quiet stands. I dont think you can go wrong with any millenium stand they are quiet and comfortable.
Upnorth: It means a whole lot to hear that, thank you.
Steve: I couldn't imagine finding a site that bickers more than this. Only kidding with that comment.
Crusader: agree!!
I hope we can change this site back to what it use to be. Even if it's slowly done. Still better than nothing.
It helpson the stands to fill all hollow parts and tubing with spray foam. Also. Velcro on the platforms work great
Well said Crusader Dad and Tack Driver. I think with folks like you, Noc8, and HunterR things will improve greatly around here.
The killer is how people can't voice an opinion without being belittled by those with differing opinions. Then the name calling comes out as those people try to shove their opinions down everyone's throats ad nauseum. Realistically though, it is only a select couple who do that. People point it out but get clobbered then because they won't accept their part. There are loads of great people here.
Some great story tellers too.
Please elaborate captain Mike!
Every once in a while one of the more colorful posters put together some very entertaining stories. Just another of the aspects of this site that I enjoy.
I use white lithium grease on ladder stands and will use some camo tape on the cross bar on the stands where the foot platform flips up.
For the most part, I try to refrain from stepping into the purse swinging that occurs, but sometimes I can't resist tossing a cat into the middle when it seems to me that someone's taking themselves too seriously. For that, I apologize.
I enjoy the stories here, the pics and the humor. I can do without the few who seem to only be interested in pizzing in the punch bowl.
On "another site" recently a member posted a question...don't remember what...and recieved some good advice and a LOT of malice.
I posted, "Ask an honest question, get a smart ass answer".
THAT post didn't stay up long. Too bad, because I meant it. Too many keyboard tuff guys out there.
I completely agree with the OP.
For the folks who relate that they don't like this and don't like that about the site - the WI site remains one of the most active sites out there and often leads the pack in postings.
Most of us, myself included get a little out of line from time to time, but overall, the posts are informative and some pretty lively debating occurs as well.
Been here many moons and enjoy most everyone that posts and shares their thoughts and ideas on so many topics.
Overall, we are a pretty fortunate bunch I believe! We have some "deep" thinkers and some pretty informative topics bantered about!
Good folks!
Take a look at some of the other states. Many had less that 10 threads total in their list. Heck, ours goes past the two page limit of threads that show up in a couple of months.
I understand what you last two mean. But it also doesn't mean we can't try and make our state thread better. Non the less, I still stand with my overall statement.
Sorry was gone for over a week down in Cancun to watch the Super bowl and did not miss this site at all. Only reason I'm on now is I got a new computer and I'm putting my bookmarks on.
Trapper jack I'm jealous! Especially now, with the temps.
I wrap all of the connecting joints on my ladder stands with hockey tape. Works pretty good.
Ya can't beat hockey tape...no matter what Red Green says!!!
