The elk leave my neighborhood after the rut, and usually come back in April. I have seen over 300 elk in the drive from 260 and Colcord road to my place (6 miles). Now that I live at the cabin all year round my only visitors in the winter are mule deer and small critters. This morning at first light my wife looked out the window and what to our wondering eyes should appear? Not Santa, but the first elk we have seen since October. All cows, but when Sept. rolls around the bulls will be here too. Oh for a tag.
