REQUESTING CALLS TO THE SENATE

With ONLY one day left in the legislative session, we need you to take action once again.

The House of Delegates has passed Bill 4742. This bill will take money away from many state agencies and of particular concern is the DNR will lose $4 million dollars. This will significantly impact DNR’S ability to hire Law Enforcement Officers, work on important repairs to state parks and fish hatcheries, and purchase land for WMA’s and that’s just a few of the impacts this bill will have.

PLEASE PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL THE SENATE PRESIDENT AT (304) 357-7801 STARTING SATURDAY AT 9AM AND REQUEST HOUSE BILL 4742 BE KILLED.

YOU SHOULD ALSO CALL THE SENATE FINANCE CHAIRMAN AT 304-357- 7901 AND REQUEST THE SAME. KILL HOUSE BILL 4742.

The Senate needs to hear there is opposition to this bill.

I don't think lack of replies to this post is the apathy of sportsmen what so ever. I think people are just tired of the lack of respect shown to each other in all aspects of life anymore - from social media to real life situations.

I mean you can not have a decent debate anymore without insults coming out and then the name flying comes out - so people just stop replying anymore. Heck just look at the three ring circus we have going on in our presidential selection process right now.

Instead of replying to someone else with facts or reasons - we call landowners freeloaders because they don't buy a license or game hogs because they want to shoot more than one buck or trophy hunters because they like to kill bucks with nice antlers. And it comes from both sides. Heck I fall into all three of those categories and ask me if I care what others think! Yes - I like thinking I owned my owned land and can do what I want on it without having to pay more taxes to be able to hunt on it (yes I do consider hunting and fishing licenses a tax to help cover cost of a government run agency) but I also have a lifetime license and continue to buy the stamps and tags each year. Yes, I love to kill more than one buck a year (have not killed a small buck in quite a while) and I shoot does too - if that makes me a game hog so be it - just don't ask me to squeal like a pig for you! And your darn tooting I like to kill big bucks and hang them on the wall and I like watching my trail camera pics and I save the buck pictures and delete the doe pics. So if that means I am in to horn porn then so be it! I am not going to be embarrassed by any of it. Now if someone wants to disagree with me and come up with some facts and try to get me to change my mind then go head but just nix they darn name calling and telling me I should be ashamed of how I feel!

LOL Sorry didn't mean to go off rambling on this but think I sort of needed to explain why I think people are not responding - it isn't because they don't care - I think we all are just tired of the BS going around and will respond in our own ways now and try to skip around the avenues where others try to debate by slinging mud.

I think you are right that people would like to think that they have some input at these meeting. I was sort of responding to that nobody had responded on here. You look at the lack of post on here anymore - then look at how some feel they need to go back and delete their post or just stop responding. Sort of sad. Just a different time we are living in right now.

Must admit I miss seeing gobbler's and mountaineer's post - no matter if you agreed with them or not their thoughts and ideas did give us something to think about it and discuss.

LOL Ron it is mostly certainly quieter - not much reason to come and visit anymore though when there are very few post. I actually like seeing others opinions even if I disagree - most of the time it just confirms what I believe in.

Yea, I liked some of the stuff but not the belittling and putting people down because they disagree with you, Sheeeesh, it amazes me the way guys on here have been talked Down Too, and pretty much runn oft ! but it's like that on any Forum .

Yep, I agree with you there - the art of debating or carrying on a conversation has been lost. I love hearing others ideas - but like in my first post - the mud slinging or name calling turns me off too. Some times people don't realize there are more than one way to skin a cat! LOL

JayD I agree, the art of debating is long gone. It has turned into; if you don't agree with me you must be from another planet. People debate with personal beliefs and feelings. Now how can you get people to agree or disagree with something if you don't present facts? A group of likeminded people will follow suit with each other and all those who don't are wrong!?!? Facts don't seem to matter anymore, anyone watched a political debate lately?
