Wow! ONLY mentored youth?! What about the Junior Hunters?! Seems they are excluding the kids 12-16 that are in sports and school activities. What makes them any different than the mentored youth?! Doesn't make any sense to me! :(

None of it makes any sense.
The head of the Game and Fisheries Committee, the guy that canceled the SH hearing, now has a bill moving thru that will incluse 12-17 year olds in the mentored program, because it creats "opportunity" for them.
Sunday hunting doesn't????
They are all jerks.

That is CRAZY Brad! But I wish I could say I was surprised at the (lack of)logic of our legislators! :(
So if that bill passes, 12-17 y/o's will be eligible to hunt as a mentor w/o having to buy a license?

Senate Game & Fish Committee Approves Families Afield Expansion The Pennsylvania Senate Game and Fisheries Committee approved an amendment to HB 1452 that would expand the current Families Afield program in the state. Specifically, the language would allow a person 12 years of age or older to participate in the mentored hunting program. To combat a decline in the number of hunters across the nation, NSSF was part of a national effort in 2004 to recruit new hunters by expanding apprentice hunting opportunities throughout the country. The Families Afield program seeks to remove unnecessary legal barriers to hunting and create opportunities for adults to mentor those wishing to try hunting.

This will allow pretty much all ages to participate in the mentor program.
Many are not aware we have had a Mentored Adult Program for a couple years now.

Their lack of support for the hunters of this commonwealth,is almost laughable. But,it does not surprise me in the least.

And they wonder why hunter numbers are falling.
