Took this javalina last week in south Texas. Great hunt with great friends. Also filled my two turkey tags with a gun.
Excellent. Post the turkey pics if you don't mind. Congrats!
First Rio. It was my first ever and now I'm half way to the slam.
Me and my buddy doubled the next morning on different parts of the property. Good heavy longbeards.
Nice, congrats on gettin 'er done! Those Rios have great looking fans.
Congrats on the south Texas triple Kevin!
My brother with his Kansas longbeard
My Kansas bird. Difficult hunt due to the fact that the birds weren't responding to calls or even gobbling after flydown. Past experience of where the birds liked to roost and hang out definitely helped in our success this year.
Congrats on a successful Kansas adventure!
4-23-16 it's starting to get good
Looks like you're on them again Turpie. Great fish.
Jason and I where able to hit a couple of giant suckers
Nice rope on that bird Paul!!!! Congrats! Pete
Nice bird Paul, now you can chase some carp
Congrats on the beautiful archery Tom pav!
Gerald Eads and his last day longbeard.
Called in a nice bird for Grace on Saturday morning. 24.5lbs, 11" beard and 1.5" spurs. It is a gun kill... but my little girl does love her 20ga during turkey season!
I had a 10minute hunt after school on Friday. Bird gobbled in the woods behind me as I set up the decoys. two series of yelps and he was coming. Stepped into the field 6 steps from the blind, strutted to the decoys and I killed him next to the jake decoy at 17.
Was my last chance to hunt for me this season. So thankful it came together. Hadn't called in a strutter yet before this weekend.
Time to catch some fish and get in shape for New Mexico this September.
Better squeeze that girl a little tighter Pete....she's growing up fast. Tough on turkeys too!
Congrats to you both!
Paul
Some photos from the Tisepe carp weekend
Ross Clark didn't see many fish Saturday night
I can't compete with that Chris!
But did make some time to get out and shoot a few fish.
Congrats on the bruin!
Love the moose antler prop. Great photo!
Nice haul, carp-slayers!
Beautiful bear hh!
Beautiful bear, congrats.
Great job on carp reduction. Keep it up.
First night's hog at Porkapalooza. I could have held out of larger hogs but the midweight ones are tasty and I'm a weak man and when the hog goes broadside, the arrow flys.
Next morning I went out for a second hog for the grill.
Atta boy Mike!
Bringin' home the bacon!
Couldn't stand it anymore and headed back to Oklahoma. August 2nd. 103 heat index. Toasty!
Now that's a die-hard pork fanatic right there! Nice one!
Was able to take this Kentucky doe as the storms moved out Saturday evening
Oh man, deer going down already, congrats KDC on a fine doe!
Here's my Dall Sheep taken last week. This was my second try for sheep in the NWT, and luckily connected on a decent old ram this trip.
Posted the full story over on the main sheep forum.
Dall Sheep NWT - Round 2
Gentlemen...we now have a 3/4 archery Sheep Slammer in our midst!
Sincerely, huge congrats Greg! Three archery rams and two archery billies in the short time I've known you. Definitely makes you the King of the Mountain in my book!
WOW!!! That is a beautiful ram Greg! Congrats on such an amazing accomplishment! Would love to see the NWT someday. The pictures are incredible.
Looks like a perfect shot as well. Thanks for sharing the story. Pete
Great story and awesome accomplishment. I'd be happy to settle for 1 let alone 3. Way to go!
Just got back this afternoon from NM. Called in fewer elk this hunt but did get this cow to come in to 30yds on my last morning hunt. There was a huge storm coming in as we took pictures and broke her down which made for some excellent trophy photos! She was a big old girl and fortunately I double lunged her and she was down quickly in about 150yds.
I called in a 4x5 for JJ on Wednesday morning but his shot was back and despite tracking all afternoon, we couldn't find him until the next morning. We broke him down but noticed Friday afternoon that the meat was souring (turning green) in the cooler even though it was on ice. I was really disappointed for him to lose his first elk that way.
We had an amazing adventure and despite the low of losing JJ's meat both said we would chase elk again as soon as we could draw the yag and I could get the time off school.
I hope that you all have great hunts this fall! Pete
Congrats on the whopper cow, that should make some tender vittles! And what a great picture.
Congrats Pete!
There isn't much better table fare in the wild than meat from cow elk. My wife figured that out some time ago and now routinely asks if my current elk tag is bull only or either sex!
Sorry to hear about your friend's bull. Sounds like you guys did all you could to salvage. It happens.
My 10 year old got his first deer on youth weekend. Very happy with his little deer. We found it the next morning. Tasty little thing.
That is a cow of a cow! Congrats. OTC or draw?
We went two for two over the weekend. My 12 year old got his first as well. Couldn't be happier.
Stick slinger - Congrats to your boys!!! Their smiles say it all!!!
Mike - NM second archery. I've been lucky to draw both times putting in for this hunt! Wish I could put in for the hunt every year (though Im sure I wouldn't draw every year...) but wouldn't be able to talk my administration into time off from my classroom that often. As it was, I took my 2 personal business days and remitted my pay for the other 3 days.
Thanks for the comments guys! It was a great adventure! Pete
Hunting some pesky urban deer and I did something I've only done once or twice. I doubled on a button buck (thought it was a doe) and an 8 point buck. No good field photos. After retrieving them, I suddenly remembered why I don't do this! Lots of work but all good. If the summer sausage comes out good, I will be one happy camper.
That's a pile of good eats right there, Mike! Nice shooting as well. Time to buy another freezer for venison since the first one is chocked full of pork :)
Congrats on the urban double Mike!
Congrats, that's pretty rare, and tough to do with a bow.
Thanks guys. Yes Pete, there is a freezer full of pork. Just made some venison summer sausage for the first time successfully. Ruined a lot of venison before. Finally got it figured out.
10/28 - 190 lb 8 pt.... State land ... ended up at 139"
Pretty 8, Jeff! Congrats and on public land as well. Pete
6 inches broke off and blood on another 4" of the remnant

Hit one last night around 5:30. I had just done some light rattling and also had some wildlife research doe pee out. I caught movement to me left, quarrying downwind of me. My treestand is on the side of a hill so she was quite a bit lower than me. I took a picture of her and hoped she wouldn't wind me. Pretty soon a caught more movement and saw it was this guy. He had been in my back yard (middle of the afternoon) a week and a half prior. I was able to grab my bow and stand up as he went behind a tree. They were in no rush. I drew back when he was behind some brush. He took a couple more steps and stopped. I had time to settle the pin. I noticed my string against the treestand rail and leaned a little further out to make sure there wasn't interference. Fortunately he stayed put. I let fly and was very disappoint to see him start to run and the arrow flip back out. He was slightly quartering too. I was afraid I hit him square in the leg and didn't get any penetration. He heard him running and a couple crashes, "Had he gone down"? I couldn't find any blood through the binoculars, but the crash sounded good. I waited 25 minutes then got down and looked at my arrow. Better penetration then I first thought.

When I got down I found very little blood and decided to back out after 10 yards. I went home and had dinner. I went back with my son to track. It was slow going for a while dime size or smaller every 5' or so. We thought we lost it for a bit, but we found where he left the trail and went through some thick stuff. We soon found a spot where it looked like he stood for a bit. It picked up good after that.
10 point plus split brow and some stickers. 16.5" inside spread.

Now it was easy to follow and started showing signs of lung froth. It didn't take long until we found him. Very happy and relieved. He was stiff and I'm sure what I heard originally was him crashing.
Can't seem to get the orientation right or figure out how to delete photos. Sorry. Edited on my phone before posting and it's still upside down. I give up. Happy hunting everyone. They're moving.

Another with my son. Elkhart county.
even upside down, thats a nice critter ...
Great buck! Congratulations and glad you got to involve your son in the blood trail - good job! Way to get it done before the gun opener as well. Pete
Beautiful buck, congrats!
I tagged out on this guy November 2 in Steuben county Indiana. Awesome morning
Congrats on the bruiser buck 13bowman!
Turpie....Carp in November! You guys are truly hardcore archers!
no late season action it appears
Not where I'm hunting. Can't recall deer sightings being this sparse in the 35+ years I've been deer hunting. Hoping there are just better food sources nearby, but concerned it is much more than that....
I missed a chip shot at a turkey a few days ago. No photo to prove it though.
After shooting my cow elk in NM, I set my mind on a 12point at my Lagrange property or nothing. Amish neighbor shot at him the last day of gun season but didn't find any hair or blood. I saw him that evening walking somewhat hunched up and he was completely unresponsive to calls. Tail was flicking back and forth constantly which from my experience is never a good thing. Closest he came to me was 48yds and I could not get him to stop.
Have not seen him since and no pictures. Walked the property the next weekend and did not find him, Kind of took the wind out of my deer hunting sails for the late season... Hoping that I misread the situation and he will be around next year. Pete
Very few deer sightings on the farm I hunt in Amo as well. Farm was in beans this year and I never see many deer when it is in beans. Maybe 2017 and corn will be better.
I am a little late to the party, but here is my 2016 archery buck. This deer is my 2 largest bow kill. He decoyed in perfectly and was shot at 25 yards.
That's a fine looking buck!
Great deer! Congrats!
Hard to beat the classic look of big frame 8pt whitetail IMO.
Late to the party as well. Halloween buck.
Wow, that's a great one Falcon!
