Ok I had a Tom at 17 yards this morning at full strut facing straight at me I took the shot aiming for the base of the neck....the arrow was headed right at the neck and hits! Turkey takes off walking away? I go over to find my broadhead with two broke off blades and a pile of feathers what a bummer! I looked for him but he walked away fine! I guess you can't hit them in the neck from what I read????

Pretty sure I'd be getting different broadheads. That turkey shouldn't have a head anymore. You using expandables?

What I was told by an old timer from Missouri that hunted turkeys his whole life was to not shoot at their head when in full strut, even with a shotgun. The neck folds into to the of the body and it too protected. I have had good luck first getting ready, then clucking or putting and when the periscope comes up I shoot.
