Please take a moment to reflect and think about the sacrifices of those who have fought for our freedom.
I look at society today and it makes me wonder what would be going through the minds of those who sacrificed and died so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Thanks again!
Nice said Mike F.
My dad turned 18 2 days after Pearl Harbor...the day after graduation, every guy in his class bussed to DesMoines, Iowa and enlisted...not all came home.
My dad and 1 uncle served in the Navy, and another uncle was a Marine...all 3 made it home.
I fondly remember all 3, and am in awe of what they did. They're all now gone, but live on in my memory.
Bless 'em all!!!
I went and visited with him yesterday.
Thanks Dad for teaching me the things you did.
Ditto what everyone said.
We happened to drive past Fort Snelling cemetery on the way to terminal 2 of the airport on Sunday afternoon. Unbelievable how many people were in the cemetery putting out flowers, visiting family, whatever. They had cops directing traffic and we got in a lane that forced us into the cemetery instead of going right past so we saw more of it that we expected to.
Going past the vet cemetery on 53 south of Spooner today there was a huge tent setup. We couldn't see what was going on from the highway but it was enough to shed a few tears.
There is a new vet cemetery at Rushford MN, I think it is Rushford, if not it is near there. I drove thru it last fall, it was not done yet but looked mostly what was left was landscaping. It is a very nice location. Land was acquired by locals and given to whatever department handles new national cemeteries. It is nice to see these smaller localized ones like these two being built for our fallen heroes.
Thank you Razor . Some one asked me why I don't wear a hat or tee with vet on it . Simply answer . In 1965 you were drafted or joined the military . You were expected to fight in any wars . It was part of being an American .
Saw a great pic , WW2 A wounded marine carrying another wounded Jarhead , Both shooting 1911 pistols on the run . The caption below said .
If you see this 90 year with a VFW hat walking down the street , bow to him , He's a much bigger BADASS than you .
Not trying to be rough but we have a day of recognizing us that served and it is not that day. We also have a day recognizing those that are serving and yesterday is not that day.
Semper Fi to those who gave it all.
In my mind every day all who have served should be recognized.
Not just one or two days a year.
I try and give back to the families every time that I can, because I personally know the sacrifices families of those who have served have had to make throughout the years.
Thanks to all that have served.
