Saw 2 doe this morning in the Mt Southington Ski Area parking lot, no fawns around. I haven't seen any coyotes lately and as I mentioned in a previous post, there are lots of rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels around.
Also have a red tail hawk living in my neighbor's tree picking off a few animals each week, doesn't seem to be effecting the population much though. I like the hawk, we're friends.
Anyone else seeing fawns around? Still a bit early, but some should be prancing around by now.
I got one on cam in the backyard weeks ago then nothing since. I was starting to think it was coyote food until last night when it showed up as I was sitting outside. The odd thing is that the mom was a frequent visitor to the feed until it had its fawn. She must have been keeping it in the thick stuff. I can see she is a big boss doe and last year she had twins so she knows how to keep them alive. I will be sure to let her walk now if only the neighbor will.
I have 2 on cam on one property
They are still keeping their fawns hidden away. I have two does frequenting my yard....no fawns in tow....but both does are full of milk underneath.
Saw 2 does with 3 fawns on Tuesday.
Ah, that's great to hear guys. I agree with bloodtrail, it's early and they're still hiding out. I was just happy to see some deer in the neighborhood again, it's been very quiet the past year.
Took this about a month ago. Just saw a doe this morning with a fawn along I84 midday.
Wish I had my camera, cell phone photo.
Had a couple in the swamp last week, nothing since..nada at Toyland.

great phone pictures! What a great pic of the fawn! I hope the hawk population sky-rockets!
Saw a couple along I-95 just the other day... between exits 3 and 4, I think...
Cool pics Toby you don't get to take those everyday.
Saw a doe with three fawns today
Saw doe and fawn today in Somers
I saw a fawn crossing rte 47 in Washington last Friday and my wife saw a doe with 2 fawns in Warren the same day.
Saw these today, check out the length of the tail on that doe.
Damn, that's one well hung doe.
Toby fawns look good that tail has waved to more than one hunter for sure.
2 weeks ago I found an old stone lined well in the woods, inside was a fawn that had drowned. I was sick for days thinking about it. If you know of old open wells, cover them!!
triplets in the backyard!
thanks for the pics and updates. Sounds like the fawns are starting to get up and around. Saw a dead coyote on I-84 Sunday.
Had a cool encounter with a doe and fawn yesterday. Came around a hairpin turn in the trail to walk right up on them. Doe was about 4 yds from me and the fawn was about 7-8 yds. If I kept walking I would have cut in between them but mom wasn't having it and stood her ground...she actually started to walk towards me a couple of times.
Funny thing was, this was right behind Geno Auriemma's house and people were out in the yard so I was looking over there to see if he had any of the ladies from the Olympic team over and never even saw them them until I turned down the trail.
This fawn has been sleeping in a small clover plot me and a friend planted in Norwalk.
another photo of fawn sleeping in clover plot.
Ticks or fly bites on those ears? Great pic
Wayniac,
I do not know what they are but I noticed them, maybe someone will be able to tell us what they are.
Saw a doe with one fawn eating on a lawn up here in MA around 11:45 today. Good to see those little guys getting out and about.
Horse flies are real bad where I hunt now so my guess is flies
Saw another fawn yesterday standing in the Marshapaug River in Litchfield with it's mom.
Twins on the backyard plot
Today I saw two with a doe, on the campus where I work.
2 large does and 4 fawns in tolland last week.
Squished one on 34 Newtown...looked maybe a couple of weeks old
