So if any of you want to let a 1st timer join your crew or you need a partner let me know. Really don't wana go alone as I've never been in the mtn's or hunted elk. I know it's hard to find the "right partner" and could make/break a hunt.
I'm 34, hard worker, strong, and love the wilderness/nature. No I won't take your spot and return with buddies. That's why I'm here, cause no friends hunt elk. This is for bowhunting.

You'll also have a hard time finding somebody to give up even general info on areas. Too many people get burned helping others by means you alluded to or even simply giving solid started advice and then not hearing a word on how the hunt went. Even giving general advice and not hearing back from the individual(s) is frustrating.
I've asked and received help from many great folks here and on another website. I'll be eternally grateful for that help. Value their time. It's something they gave you. If you do get help in any form, document who where and when and get back to EVERY one of them. Even if you don't checkout an area suggested, tell them why.
I recommend going by yourself if you cannot find anyone. Take advantage of the vast amounts of QUALITY information on the internet. Hunt at your own pace. Go where you want and when you want. For peace of mind and communicating back home, buy a Delorme Inreach or a similar device (that's what I do).
Good luck. Get out there man! You're missing morning views like this photo from last September.
I'm in the same boat as you, friends don't archery elk hunt
I wish was going out west this year, but baby #2 will be here in less than two weeks and it is all hands on deck.
Let us know how your trip was.
I say go by yourself too. I've done many solo trips and it's nothing to be afraid of. After you bring home a bull and/or some great stories your odds of finding a hunting partner will increase.
Kevin, it's just the rack that's clouding your judgment, lol!
just go, that's what I did, I left my wife and new baby girl, drove out the driveway, headed west, having no idea of where I was going,,,,
ended up on the west side of wolf creek pass in sw Colorado, shot a cow elk in 3 days,,,,, than I had to figure that out.....
you will figure it out, life is an adventure, if you have the time, just go
