What is proof to you that fall is here?
To me it is fog over lakes and ponds at first light. Lots of years of bear hunting and baiting has me associating the two. Even though I have been baiting for a long time it did not really sink in that the season is fast approaching until this morning when heavy fog was over the lake. Water temp was 74 a few days ago and the colder overnight temps have not only brought fog back but all critters are getting ready for winter. Young loons have most of their color but still a lot of growing left to do before they are migration ready.
Nothing makes me think "fall" like 98ยบ in the welding shop!!! Thank God for the dripping humidity last week, as the heat just wasn't proper misery. :^)
High school football on Fridays. Cool mornings. Soy beans turning brown. We are by there yet, but we're not far away.

Yes, fall is right around the corner. Be safe out there and enjoy your annual trips to the woods, lakes and marshes. We wait all year for this an I hope every one has a safe and successful fall.

Running out of time to get all the stuff done before the snow flies. I bought a new place with 35 acres and still haven't even set up a stand or been in the woods more than an hour total. Just trying to get the house ready before we move in. Being that it's two hours away doesn't help the matter either.
Zinger, don't panic, being behind on stuff because you upgraded your residence is a good thing. Plus long time yet till rut.

Black birds were flocking up in Canada. Opening weekend of bear in Canada. Apples are dropping off my trees at home and deer in the yard.

My daughter and I slept outside this weekend and there were plenty of geese in the sky. Falling asleep to honking flying Vs surely made it feel like autumn.
