Heard the first bugle of the year. This morning at about 0500. Just the high pitched part, no grunting. Just one.

Notags, what bugle are you using? I know sound carries far in the mountains, but somehow I doubt that was you.
On another note took my wife for a drive went from Woods Canyon Lake along the Rim Road to highway 87.
Saw a really nice bull 6x6 about 10 miles into the drive. Probably in the neighborhood of 300. Still in velvet.

Just got back in from scouting. It rained nearly the whole time I was there. I couldn't believe how green it was.

opening weekend of deer, we heard 5 different bugles. hope that is a good preview of coming attractions.

Well, up to about 35 bugles. Had 3 bulls conversing this morning. They have stepped it up to grunting at the ends of the bugles too.
Bugle season has officially begun.
