I drew an any deer tag for Shiawassee National Refuge. Have not hunted there in 9 years . I hope the hunting is as it was 9 years ago.Saw around 15 bucks on my first day.They were rutting like crazy that day.

There are no crops planted on the refuge any more. There are elevated shooting shacks with windows pointing INTO the refuge seemingly every 100 yards along the entire border. There are many more tags given out. It is not what it used to be.

Hunted in there late last season for a doe...Had the biggest buck I've seen in Michigan at 18 yds. I wish I would have got drawn this year. It's too bad they changed from the point system. You hunting the Early November Rut Hunt?
