HB 2083

This bill would essentially remove the management of deer and habitat from the PGC and place it in the hands of a Council chosen by, and made up of, USP(Unified Sportsmen of PA) members and selected legislators.

HB 2083 was sent to the State Government Committee in June and on Tuesday September 20th this committee will hold a hearing on that bill.

As you can imagine, it is imperative that bow hunters contact members of the SGC with opposition to this piece of legislation ASAP!

If this is not killed in its infancy it will not bode well for the future of deer and habitat management, and will most assuredly adversely affect antlerless license availability, antler restrictions, and the overall white-tailed deer management plan.

Yep, the USP and others have been threatening to do this(take power away from the PGC) ever since Gary Alt proposed the new(at the time)deer management plan.

I read the whole bill and I gotta say, I like a lot of it... while some of the more open-ended stuff tips off the cynic in me.

Oh boy. Here we go...

Anything the USP get involved with will have to be really disinfected. I think their doctrine reads something like:

PGC- BAD. Biology-BAD Reaserch first- BAD Hunter first reasoning- BAD

Agenda- GOOD Biased-GOOD Cronieism- GOOD Antiquated thinking- GOOD ALT Slamming-Good.
