I got home from work about 5:30 Pm. A quick shower and I was up in the treestand behind my horse pasture by 5:50. A lone doe came down the trail at 6:45. I'm buck hunting now!

The elk trip is always good.Got into animals in the beginning of the hunt and the last 2 days of the hunt with 7 days in the middle without a sighting.Called in two different bulls but to thick one time and the wind cost me the other. It's not like TV.Iowa oct30-nov8th.how about you?

No go this year...applied with 2 PP's but unsuccessful. Worked out ok though because we pretty much lost that 400 acre private farm. My buddy got divorced and she is part owner of it.
You hunt Iowa on private land or guided?

two year's in a row, I shoot a crippled buck that walks on 3 legs. Meet the "Texas Longhorn". I had been getting evening pics of him for some time, but didn't realize he was injured so badly. Came in at last light and I just felt it was the right thing to do. He weighed 169 dressed on certified digital scale at Jorge & son's butcher.

another view from the side - bizarre, eh?

believe it or not - he was a 2.5 year old 6pt last year, here he is under my stand in September 2015. I have a pic later in December where that leg is clearly injured. The asymmetrical curvature of the right antler is perfectly apparent on this year's right beam.

Jack, You didn't have to shoot him. You could've sent him to rehab. I know where they have an extra 20 grand lying around for just such a purpose....
