I was curious if there were any known cases or rumors of deer, especially big bucks, being poached during this early rifle bear season in the bow only deer counties?

yea. They are poachng deer where I hunt but it doesn't have anything to do with the bear hunters

surely you jest, there wouldn't be any outlaws carrying rifles in bow only deer counties using bear hunting as a plausible reason for having a rifle in their hands.

So is it bow only state wide? I think the guys in my county are using rifles. They are too lazy to bowhunt

Not all of them. I should clarify that. I meant to say that most of the guys in my area use dogs and rifles.

My caretaker had to fire some warning shots at some poachers shooting at deer on my property the other day.
