Seeing more wildlife always makes things more enjoyable, but the solitude gives me time to think about those things in life that are so much more important, like family and friends,....present and past. And it's the one place that I feel the closest to my creator and a place to give thanks.

I also like to see deer and other critters, and fewer hunters seems to me like it would increase the numbers of deer and other animals eventually.
But, big picture, it's worrisome. As much as I like the things noted above, I like hunting (and fishing) more. If the younger ages keep skipping out on the outdoors, we will have problems.
I feel that way about potential losses of public lands as well - those are a gift from our fore fathers, and having those taken away is a very short sighted issue...
They are part of the same picture to me... So, while I see some positives, fewer hunters = less potential political pull to keep hunting viable for our kids and their kids and less environmentalism as well... Scary things.
As far as the harvest numbers....it's only what's reported.
