Was pretty excited to hunt today since it rained last night and i figured everything would be moving this morning. I didn't see anything but squirrels and birds though. So i was back in my stand at 230pm and this guy was showing me his rack about 40yrds away through the thick. He eventually came in to 15yrds. My shot was a little further back than wanted. Followed blood trail for about an hour and found him 100yrds away. Thinking about doing a shoulder mount. Thoughts? First buck with bow.

Mount him for sure…..First bowkill…….You gotta……… Also get some pictures and write the story of how you took this buck down on paper while its fresh in your mind. Then put the pics and the written story in a ziplock bag and attach it to the back of the mount.

Congratulations.
How long was "eventually"? No shots before he got to fifteen? What kind of bloodtrail did he leave? I,for one, would like to hear the whole story.

First DEER you should always mount because there will never be another. My first was a doe with my recurve in 1978 at 10 yards in the snow, and I have her hanging on my wall.
Congrats on losing your archery deer virginity!! And it's a nice buck for your first.

Not my first deer with bow, but it was my first buck with a bow..
Wild Bill, was in stand at 230pm and he came around 430. It took him 20 minutes to walk in front of the stand about 15 yards away. He was licking and rubbing his antlers on a branch to the right of me about 40 yrds away. Blood trail was thin, very light colored. Lost the trail multiple times. Thought I gave him enough time but I ended up hearing him go down as I was tracking..Got lucky!
