Spent the last couple of days in Vermont bow hunting. Stopped by two check stations, Locust Creek in Bethel and Barrows Trading post near Quechee. Total of 12 deer checked in for both places as of yesterday. I did notice one thing, no one is out, put a lot of miles on and did not see another vehicle pulled of the road. It is so sad, Vermont was the go to place for bow hunters. I know one thing for sure, a lot of the hunters I have known over the years from out of state refuse to buy a license now because of some of the regs put in place in recent years. At the check stations, I hear the same old excuses, too much food in the woods, warm weather full ,moon etc. Not buying it any more. I great bow hunting state is no more.

I had another fruitless season. There are deer out there I was just unable to get them in to freezer. I would love to see deer every trip out but in the back of my mind I know that a trophy is only a trophy when you work hard for it. Stay safe and enjoy the effort.
