Ok guys....there are stands of these all thru the area I hunt. Last year and the year before I noticed there was some type of fruit that turned blackish brown after a few frosts. I crushed a couple and it smelled sweet. The trees are about fifteen to twenty feet tall and are scattered all over, usually in an area about 30' x 30' or so. Hand is for size reference.
One more thing, when are we gonna get a fall turkey season in 5B? Saturday I had three gobblers walk by about 35-40 yards out and this morning a flock of eleven passed me at 15 yards. Of course when I hunted in Perry Co, 4B, things like that never happened.

Leaf looks like a pawpaw but the fruit is usually gone by early October. They are delicious.
