“Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers” Announces Its Winter 2016-2017 Schedule!
With only 4 days to go before the elections, we figured now is the right time to ATTEMPT to make our Traditional Archery friends smile, and have you looking forward to our first-of-the-winter-season shoot on Sunday, November 20, 2016!
We cannot do anything about Elephants or Donkeys, but we do know a thing or two about life-size foam animals. (And possibly other versions of…targets….!!) Set up over a varied terrain and course. With a shot or three that might make you want to A.) Scream, or B.) Cheer, depending on your abilities and our deviousness!
Over the years, the Crew has realized that “Strictly Sticks” is not simply about a 3D archery course. It’s about the folks who take time from their schedules, to drive from all over our region, to meet up with their friends both old and not-yet-made. Just to fling arrows.
Is it that? Or might it be a bit more? Could it be that “hanging out” at a “Sticks” event is a chance to catch up with how the gang is doing? Or could it be that one of our shoots just might get you in the right frame of mind for an upcoming hunt? Or, could it be the place to test that new bow you just acquired, or made?
Only you can answer why you come to “Sticks”. All we try to do is make it fun, worth your while and time, and worthy of a return visit or two.
Think about the noted dates. If they are open to you, it would be great to see you. Maybe you know someone new to Traditional Archery, who has never been to any event of any kind. Bring them along. We’ll do our best to make them feel welcome!
Like the old “Mission: Impossible” voice used to say: “Should you accept this invitation”...well, we won’t disavow anyone!
It’s time for “Sticks”! Now, more than ever!
See you in a couple of weeks! And, THANK YOU!
From: The Crew of “Strictly Sticks”
My family knows not to make any plans for me before checking the calendar for "SS" days.
Thanks Randy.
We'll see WHOEVER we see tomorrow morning! Thanks, be safe out there, and think spring!!!
The Crew!
50MPH wind and white outs don't sound like something I want to get out of bed for. We're to get up to half a foot real fast.
We'll see in the AM.
I told my brother in law later that 95% of my friends are a direct result of Strictly Sticks. Trad guys are out there, we just need a medium to find each other.
I questioned my decision to attend on the way home. The roads worsened as well as the visibility. I passed a SUV which skidded over the bank and made it home OK.
Yes, we all were concerned about the weather, and those winds didn't help. For the most part, it was bearable. (Though we do report that from the time everyone departed slightly before 1 PM until we hit the course with the Rheinhart Hearse around 2 PM, a tree did fall on the second half/second hill part of the course, blocking the passageway. Thankfully, it was small enough and "dead enough" to be snapped out of the way!)
For the first shoot of the "Sticks" Winter 2016-2017 season, the Crew considers today a success. Because WE got to hang out with our friends, too!
Hunter looked like he was having fun, but also enjoying the warm building! And, glad Suzy got Red home OK. And Max learned that sometimes seasoned Archers make comments or suggestions...just to see if someone's listening, or shouldn't be listening. (If you understand these comments, it means you were a part of "Sticks" today!!!)
If you aren't yet, well, visit us in December, or when your schedule allows. First-timers are always welcome, because all of us were at one point. And we continued beyond that first time!
So, now you are home, warm, and dry. (Even RC and Denny are probably R&R'ing right now, after a successful hunt! YAY!) What better time to look at your 3D arrows, get your brace height back to normal, and prep for the next shoot?!!
OK...do that later. Look forward to the Thanksgiving Day with family and friends for right now. But maybe, just maybe, if you have a half ounce of energy left on Thursday afternoon, and your bow "calls to you", you will heed. And replicate your "worst shot" of today with a better one....
'Cause you know that WHO KNOWS what awaits you on December 18??
Heh heh heh heh heh!!!
See you then!
And again, THANK YOU, from the Crew of "Strictly Sticks"
