I have some family in Mercer county. Unfortunately i can only get up there during the rifle season this year. I know the rut will most likely be over. Was curious about the deer population in that area.

If you are going to use a rifle MAKE SURE it is an acceptable caliber for the state of OHIO and they have them listed. Has to be a straight walled cartridge largest of which is the 45-70 I believe. DANNY

It's during shotgun season which is always pretty good so I wouldn't not go if I could. Whereabouts in Mercer County? That's where I live and hunt.

Outside of Willshire, Ohio. Any tips for my first (and probably only) time to hunt O-H-I-O

That's good, especially if you're up near the st Marys river. Most of the crops are off now and it should all be off by then. With the warm weather we've had things have been slow but I've been seeing some nice nocturnal bucks on my cam. I hunt near the river too. You will enjoy it. Good luck.
