Rifle Rut

Is there any rut activity during the shotgun season or is it pretty much over with by then?

Pretty much come and gone by the time ' Bloody Monday' rolls around.

There can absolutely be some rutting/chasing in Dec and even Jan. I've seen it. It's not like November but I'd still be out if I were you!

youth gun season this weekend,that will get them spooky for awhile then a week later the orange army invades.

I personally have not seen a lot of rutting activity where I hunt in the Northern part of the state, and just yesterday I found 2 new scrapes opened up. I would say the peak of the rut is late this year, but I'm sure it's different in other parts of the state. There's no set date or time. I've had several mature does feeding in our back yard at night in a suburb with country just across the river, and we have only one small buck on camera running with them.
