Thanks everyone; the story? I'm a bow hunter more than a gun hunter but have not had a ton of time to hunt this year. That being the case I decided to gun hunt thanksgiving morning on a private land farm that I have hunted for over 40 years. This guy came by at 60 yards with his nose up the butt of a doe. I took the shot; he flinched and took off; nose up the butt of the doe. I was very unsure of the shot but I thought I heard him blow his last breath. 1/2 hour,down and took up a trail with 0 blood. I was sure I missed but followed the trail for 100 yards. No blood, but decided to follow the edge of a ridge just to make sure. I moved 10 yards and saw horns. Thought it was bedded so held the scope on it for a minute and no movement was detected. I slowly moved in on it and it was dead. I let out a primal scream. Lesson; always follow up on your shots.

What caliber and where was shot placement? 100yds? Guess he was geared in sex drive and feeling no pain. Not a bad way to die.

6 mm wild bill. 60 yards; 20 ft up. A bit high; in left rear ribs; double lung; through the right shoulder. The bullet lodged in the shoulder and I have it.
