I was in central Iowa withmy wifes extended family. Fun to see a massive hog/turkey operation. Her cousins friend killed this buck with a bow south of Des Moines. His family has big ag land. He had to move the rack to another location and is being overwhelmed with endorsement offers. From the pic i scored him somewhere between 200-215. He has insane mass. Mainframe 14 point.

That is crazy huge. Is there a story to this pic? Congrats to the hunter but if I was him my smile in this pic would be so big all you would see is my teeth.

I was told a vertical wheelie bow. If it was a crossbow i dont believe BC cares what gun(ml, pistol), or string weapon(wheelie, long,x) was used.

On a mature mainframe 10 i use a base # of 90 then simply add up all tine lengths and can get very close to gross real quick. Not sure what base number to use on a 14 point with insane mass scores. Unless that guy has freakish tiny little Marco hands the mass measurements will be unreal.

Yes Bc accepts any legal weapon used so if taken with a crossbow it would be recognized as a wr. If so, this guy will be very wealthy. Just like the guy who breaks the big mouth bass record.

Just curious, what will make him wealthy? Do people pay a lot of money for a replica or does he have to sell the original mount? Do you get paid for shooting a record deer?

the rumors are flying on this one, seems maybe he had a medical crossbow permit from the previous year but may not have been valid for this year. I hope it's legit, need to drop that Boone and Crockett Canadien buck to second place.

He will have to sell the original mount and get a replica for himself. I also heard that his crossbow permit was not valid for this year but am hoping that is just a rumor. It'd be a shame for a buck like that to have an asterisk attached to it.

it sure would be great to bring the record back to the states. The Hanson buck just doesn't do it for me

$$$$ will be from the products he used. Bow, sight, release, arrows, knocks, bh, treestand, boots, underwear, chapstick, toothpaste, ect. But if killed illegaly with a crossbow walk of shame for life.

The record is already back in the states. B&C just doesn't recognize it. Even if this buck is legit they will probably find a way to keep it out just like they did with the King buck. I can understand the argument about the King buck but there are other bucks that were accepted with the exact same characteristic.

I have a 159 "king buck" tine that py considered a second main beam, they netted him@124. No soup for me.

Beautiful deer, if I harvested it no one could pay me enough to sell it. I too hope it was all legit and even if he got it with a crossbow if legal I say good for him.

When it comes to neighbors arguing, families and friends breaking up over jealousy and so on. Yes I agree. But overall I believe There to be benefit: maybe someone will bite my head off for saying it. I don't chase the antlers per say. Cause a number is only a number.

For the common mans deer hunt to survive we need to get to the middle and stay there . Over the top concern for the horn takes the hunt to places that are not sustainable for most men . At the same time little concern for age or size , shooting every young buck because you can is something just as bad . Both of these attitudes have a negative impact . Its actually amazing to me that in 2016 that we are stuck . Its either measuring and obsessing over horns or we are shooting as many deer as we can just to eat them .

The king buck met the rule for a regular point at the time it was first measured...
