Are we talking bowhunting today?
I'm out today. At Cabela's right now looking for an AR 15....:)
I might take the Thunderhorn longbow for a walk later. Key word is "might".
Right now this recliner and giant cup of coffee feels pretty good. :)
Heard 3 shots all morning. Lookin like one of those years.
of course Jeff.
thought I was going to get a shot about 10:30. got to about 30 yds and backed out. didn't hunt this afternoon. will get out tomorrow in Jersey
Sat 2 different properties today, hear one shot in 5C and -0- in 5D.
Bill, sorry, can't take that for granted on this site nowadays. I didn't go out today, too busy out there for my taste. But I'll go out after work this week if weather permits. All the best to you if ya go.
Was out today and they shot a nice 8 point about 150 yards from me. And the hunter seen 11 does, me zero. Those deer should have been on public land. lol just another time I was a day late and a dollar short........
I did some still hunting in my woodlot. A snapped stick brought three bedded does to their feet at 45yd. Game over.

I was out in NW Vermont for the late Archery/muzzleloader season. One deer seen by my cousin. Lots of shooting from the smoke polers. Going to give it a go Sunday morning before the ride home
Brian, ya didn't have to pour salt in our wounds by saying ya was gonna deer hunt Sunday!. LOL:)
didn't take it bad jeff, no problem. I know there's lots of guys here bowhunting rifle season with bows
I'm tucked way down in 5D. it's getting to the point that there's less and less places to shotgun hunt. I hunted til 11:30 and only heard 2 shots. was hoping they would be running all over the place from the gunners since I was guarding a thicket. not the case!
Jersey this morning, saw 2 coyotes so far

Been talking with some elder hunters and they all agree a lot of todays hunters stay out of the thickets. Must be to hard on modern wardrobe.
Morning RC. Not trying to cause any harm with the Sunday hunting issue. I was at a local archery shop on Saturday around lunch talking to a guy about being able to hunt on Sunday in Vermont. He couldn't understand it. Oh well. Enjoy a hot cup of java on me. : )
I looked out my back window about 6am on Sat. and saw headlamps about 80y down in the woods. I know guys hunt back there, but never seen any unless tracking a deer or when one guy got lost. When they stopped for a bit I realized they were either lost or were setting up to hunt there. So I turned the back spotlight on until they moved on and out of sight. Often wonder if I will find a bullet hole in my siding some day! :(
Rut,
My aunts television got shot from someone hunting too close to the house.
TV Lives Matter!
I agree it can be scary out there but it's not all doom and gloom. Although I can hardly bring myself to kill one with a rifle anymore, I still really enjoy the camp experience and tradition of the season. I took a good friend from college out to our camp in 2D on the mentored adult program and he got a doe. In a weekend I taught him everything from safety to processing and cooking venison and a whole lot in between. What a rewarding experience that was. Turned a yuppy Philly millennial into an advocate for hunting and hopefully a lifelong hunter. He's interested in taking the safety course and buying his own equipment. If this goes the course I am hoping archery will be a natural progression. Biggest obstacle down in that part of the State is finding land to hunt on I would imagine.
LOL Red! (not your aunt's tv getting shot ;-)
Good for you, elk! Get them hooked on hunting, then reel them in with the bow! ;-)
Congrats, nice size deer..
