2017 Deer Hunt

I have been invited to hunt in Ohio in 2017. Just wanted to ask those in the know. If you could pick 1 week to hunt Ohio, which week would you pick? Prefer to bow hunt. Thanks for your advice

11-5-17 through 11-12-17 if that corresponds with a (your) calendar week.

2nd or 3rd week of Nov. We were there from 13-19 and timed it just right this year.

Is Defiance, Ohio area good?

I would 110% be in the woods the last week of October. Halloween is my favorite day of the year. Shot my 2 biggest bucks ever on Halloween in 2015 and this year.

Passed 2 different mature bucks, a nice 125" 10 on Oct 22nd and a 120" 8 pt Oct 30th. Usually get pics and see mature bucks moving during daylight late Oct. And then there's Halloween...lol good luck! Where abouts in Ohio will you be hunting?

I am a fishing guide in Mn. and have a client from the Defiance Ohio area. He owns a bunch of land and invited me down next fall. Showed me a pic if a 170" they got this yr. Is that a good area of the state?

I'm not too familiar with that area but I love Ohio in general! I'd say if there is a 170" running around that is a great sign! I hunt in Tuscarawas county which looks to be about 3 hours SE of where you'll be. Bottom line, if you have an invite to hunt Ohio. Get there. I'd vote late October into early Nov, just like the dates you mentioned.

Ive killed more big bucks the last week of Oct than any other. I've killed 4 on the 28th so that's my favorite day to be out there. If I was you I would definitely do the 27th thru the 6th.

I live near defiance deer herd ok if your buddy killed a 170 it was kept quiet news travels fast around here. There are big deer around here espically near the river bottoms meet up around farm land. Congrats to him thats a achievement. The area can have horrible hunting pressure when the orange army arrives especially in defiance, Williams, and Henry county. Stick to the last weekend in Oct hunt through holloween and first week of November especially if their still taking down corn.

Thanks for the response Bows the Way. I believe they do own river bottoms. He sent me his address and told me to google earth it. Looks like alot of crop land and a fair amount of timber. They own a ton of land.The deer in the pic he sent is big. Seemed like a great guy in my boat last summer. I think everything is ligit.
