If we finish with another mild winter, do you think there will be doe tags issued on some of the buck only areas, by the cdac's..... curious

Of the nine counties that were buck only there likely will be a handful that give limited private antlerless tags if the winter continues to be mild. One almost certainly will because they went buck only based in incorrect understanding of the framework.
It's still too early to really start to think about it. By the first meeting in Feb, we will jube starting to get a sense of the winter severity.

I think there will be some limited doe tags in some of the counties, but others in the NE probably not.

Besides the WSI, another consideration with regard to the number of doe tags issued almost anywhere in the state may be the recommendations coming from the DNR 15 Year CWD Response Plan Review Committee. The committee will have its final meeting February 1 and will then issue a final report. The recommendations made will be presented to the CDAC/NRB as an addendum to the existing plan and not as a replacement plan. While these recommendations are non-binding they are sure to be considered when 2017 season regulations are set. Like the WSI, at this point in time no knows for certain what will happen. It is, for certain, a wait and see situation.

I can only speak for my small area if northern Marinette county. I didn't see a single buck but plenty of does.
I wouldn't mind adjusting to a 1 deer tag of either gender but limit it to just 1.

Tweed, its unlikely we'll see an either sex archery tag in the northern forest ever again. Tags will be offered as bonus tags and divided between public and private.

Hoping Northern Bayfield County continues with Buck only. Still to many does being harvested with special seasons.

There have been 9 antlerless deer harvested in Bayfield County this season. 3% of the harvest.

Actually 344 baldies in Bayfield reported as of last week, 9 with bow, 29 with crossbow, 27 in youth hunt, 268 in 9-day, 7 in muzzleloader and 4 in December antlerless-only.

Thanks for the correction Naz. I didn't notice the seasons were split out in the report. Hard to see on the phone.

are those doe tags than just for kids and disabled in Bayfield?

Am not familiar with the area razor, maybe someone up there knows. If it was all buck-only, though, I'd guess you'd be correct. Some counties had a rule where no group hunting was allowed on youth tags. Haven't looked if Bayfield was one of them.

Bayfield needs to be buck only for the next number of years no question.

LesWelch "Bayfield needs to be doe only for the next number of years no question" You did mean Buck only, right?

Yeah right.

All of the Northern Forest should be buck only for at least two years.

There hasn't been group bagging on youth tags for two seasons now. The does shot in buck only counties are primarily from youth hunters, but they can also be military and disabled hunters. It is State statute that those hunters can harvest a doe anywhere.

"The does shot in buck only counties are primarily from youth hunters". That's why I made that comment "Youth doe only in Bayfield County" I was answering Naz question.

Skook, you go ahead and believe that group bagging on the youth tag isn't still prevalent.

I was clarifying that it's no longer legal. Someone above thought some countries still have it.

I saw plenty of does in Oneida County. Had two dink bucks (spike and weird looking fork) on camera and only in October.

MF, correct.
Does that listed antlerless harvest include the native harvest???
