While retrieveing a goose that had gone down today I looked up and saw a doe going across the field. I started walking closer and about a min later a buck followed her with his nose to the ground. I also spoke to my brother earlier in the day and he had some deer run in front of his car this morning as if being chased. He lives like 30 miles away in East haddam. Could it be a third rut. Full moon is tonight.

Definitely. Couple years ago I saw two young bucks - with antlers - dogging a doe first week of Feb.

Saw a small buck try and mount a doe last week on the side of the road. The doe wasn't having much of it but it was fun to watch. I'll see if I can post the video.

I just had a buck mounting a doe in my back yard yesterday. I always see some action into mid January. Usually yearlings that we're dropped early you will them go Into a late cycle.

As long as does remain unbred they will continue to cycle every 28 days; most people are familiar with the concept of a "second rut" but the reality is breeding can continue beyond that.

I had a buck chasing a doe at full speed in late Dec right under my tree, so if a doe is out that's in season consider it a rut.

That's hilarious soapdish I just seen this now..put some evercalm out today for the first time in a month and no it did not work.. I never knew deer would do that today. I could not believe it. I looked behind me from the noise and could see her blowing repeatedly over and over and just not move.. She was foot stomping and blowing non stop. I think in total it was a little over 50 times.. I could not believe what I was hearing. She then slowly walked back the way she came and then came back blowing again. She came within 40 yards and I now have a 30yd pin so if she would of came a little closer it would of been lights out. I'm 99% sure she's the same one whose been doing it the whole time.. I figure she's a very mature smart doe. Every time I've heard it its all been within the same 40 yards. She's def on to me. Problem is she's warning every other deer in the area of me.. I really need to get rid of her bad..

I'm trying I just can't seem to get her. I almost had her two weeks ago. She had 4 smaller does with her and she almost gave me a shot but the one behind didn't like something and she started off and they all followed.. She's literally "blown" up my spot at least six times. Twice walking in, twice walking out , once scouting and yesterday. Every breath she took when she was blowing. Usually she does it three times and takes off. Yesterday was the first time she just stood there and did it.. It was because this time she couldn't see me or catch me leaving or coming. She was down wind of me and it was blowing right at her.. She could smell us but just couldn't figure it out.

I'm guessing - light a match and place near your anal opening, but be careful that you don't hurt Rocky the squirrel, he said to the rabbit in Wonderland??????
