Now because of people who like to steal others belongings and litter the woods beyond belief this will be my last season hunting in my new spot I just found.. Landowner totally disgusted and at this point he nicely said to me I prefer nobody on my land.. So thanks theifs. I figured id bring it to his attention because if I was a landowner I would want to know..
Now you lost the property?? Wow! So sorry...
I would go and clean it up, then go back and thank him for the short opportunity that you had. I bet he lets you back next Year.
I would have cleaned the mess up first then showed him what you found. I think he would have a appreciated the effort and would have been less shocked than seeing it first hand.
I would clean it tell him you will post it for him and with you hunting it maybe we can catch some of these sob, tell him you will stop by even if the of season and try to keep it clean for him .
I politely thanked him for the opportunity and told him I would gladly come back to start cleaning up the mess. I told him I greatly appreciate his generosity and told him that I understand. Guys its not just a one day 8 hr cleanup. Your talking days upon days
Sorry to hear Shawn...looks like you have a bigger issue than just some thieves. These sob squatters might require some recon. GL with the whole situation, hope it works out for yah.
Homeless camp dude..better off letting the owner contact the cops, they'll keep an eye out and chase away the bums.
Ya that's exactly what it is.. Problem is its a massive one.. Your talking 10 to 20 tents..literally.. Sad part is when I walked out there yesterday I've seen some of the freshest rubs all season including the rut and I jumped 4 doe and then when I went another 25 yards in I jumped a buck.. Too sad.
Lol. For a minute there I thought that was a pic of your ground blind...
Omg no way would I ever do something like that to the woods. You've all seen pics of my blinds and they look nothing like that..lol
You have a piece of property with ten or twenty homeless shelters and you put a trail camera there? Really? I think you took your life in your hands hunting there.
You sure the landowner isn't Max Yasgur?
No I just said I didn't.. This was the very end(edge of her property). My cam was over two miles from there.. I found this while scouting . Why is it the only time you chip in on my threads is when u have nothing nice to say. If you would of actually read it you would of known I DIDN'T hang my cam there. It was in a whole different part of the property which is over 30 acres. And if you would of read more you would of seen where I wrote no I didn't see no human sign at all and if I did I wouldn't of hung the cam. You seriously believe I would walk out to a massive homeless shelter camp and hang my cam?? Come on
When you say 30 acres I assume you meant 300 because there's no way you wouldn't have noticed all that on just 30 acres. I agree with some of the other guys that no matter how long it takes if you clean it up, or at least make a big dent in it that will show the landowner your gratitude for having given you permission to hunt there. You referred to the landowner as a she, do you really think it's fair to make a woman go in there to clean it up? Not only not fair but very unsafe. I would bet $ that if you had walked out with a few loads of garbage and told her you'd help clean it up she would have been very appreciative and not rescinded your permission. Instead, you showed her pics of a huge mess which was probably overwhelming and pissed her off. If you like the property and want to continue to hunt it you should take the initiative to help her get rid of the squatters and the mess. IMHO it's the right thing to do. I would also think about carrying a sidearm while cleaning it up because with homeless you usually have drugs and with drugs come unpredictable and sometimes violent behavior. You seem like a good guy and I've been rooting for you. I hope you find it in your heart to help this landowner. Not only will it make her happy again, but it sheds a good light on hunters in general as stewards of the land.
Shane,WI
I'm sorry, I misread and now see that the landowner is a male. Doesn't change my opinion on the fact that I think you should take it upon yourself to at least make a dent in the mess.
I hope you took antler shed that was hanging on log cabin.
Lol.. Its not even a cabin its a bunch of limbs thrown together. Like I said the reason I didn't see it is because its blocked off by acres of swampy cattail. The only way to get to it is driving down the road and going in a whole different way. And obviously by the mess they make I would of noticed If they were there. The part they were in is about 25 yards from the road. You can see where they enter and leave( a big trail to it.) when I left I took four white buckets that were there and filled them to the brim with junk. I told them I'd gladly cone back to clean it up regardless the permission. I think I've done enough.. I stated call me when there is a good time for you and you can arrange a trash pick up or dumpster. Not much more I can do. I'm already offering free days of cleanup because of there generosity to allow me in there in the first place. But now I simply scouted a piece of land and found massive amounts of junk, dont have permission to hunt there and I'm offering to clean it up.. And never even sat on one hunt there. I think I've done enough and the right thing
That's soo funny deerdan I just seen what you were talking about.. I'll be sure to grab it when I go back to do some cleaning. Its owned by a couple and I talk with both of them
Don't give up on the property. You're sitting on a gold mine. What's your alternative... state land??? Yikes
Don't give up on the property. You're sitting on a gold mine. What's your alternative... state land??? Yikes
And like I stated in my prior posts there's over 200 acres but I'm limited to 30.. Another words they want me only hunting a certain part.. Not to close to the house and where they were comfortable with.. I wasn't going to argue. Where I found the junk is at the edge of there property . Literally miles away..
Should offer to post no trespassing signs for land owner. I'm sure if the trash (camp) gets taken out and signs posted, they won't return.
If they left the property it could be due to the fact that you're there hunting it and sent them packing.
Na that the first time I stumbled upon it. Looks like they haven't been there in a while
I'm sure it might not get used in winter. Might be a summer camp.
I'm gonna help regardless. I feel in some way now that I found it I should do something about it.. I'll prob throw up a couple signs if the approve to. Regardless if I regain permission or not. And to be honest after this, being held to only 30 acres and after the cam I kinda don't want this spot anyways. Hunting is supposed to be fun and relaxing and this has affected my season. And me to honestly
Dude... Seriously??? They gave you 30 acres to work with..... and you're going to complain about having to hunt "only" 30 acres BORDERED BY A 170-ACRE DEER SANCTUARY????
Just sayin'....
"don't want this spot"....hahaha now that's comical
" If you would of actually read it you would of known I DIDN'T hang my cam there."
I just went back through the posts ahead of mine and you said nothing about not hanging a camera there. Also, then why are you calling them thieves(theifs)? What did they steal of yours?
Dude,30acres is that all..lol...some spots i hunt are so small that when the owner farts I could tell you what they ate..
30 acres is a nice track for sure man! I'm sure once things cool down maybe you can sweet talk your way back into the property.
Wow gf now you cant even read
.Another words they want me only I'll hunting a certain part.. Not to close to the house and where they were comfortable with.. I wasn't going to argue.. Where did you get that I was complaining?? Damn you guys are pathetic.. Dont bother clicking on my thread if you don't have nothing positive to say. Both of you are trying to start shit over nothing.. Trying to eat every word I say and try to start an argument.. Go to another thread if your that bored and start shit somewhere else. And no gbears I dont want it . You want to chip in on the bullshit to. And before you run your mouth AGAIN wild bill go to I work too hard for this
Nothing at all. I didn't see no human sign and if I did I wouldn't of hung the cam.. At this point im calling it a loss but ill be hunting there tomorrow and Sunday so if it was a weekend warrior ill run into him. Just sux all my deer pics are gone.
Who's next.. Gf gbears.. Wild bill.. Come on I know you cant help yourselves
Ease up Shawn...if you read my earlier comment I said I was sorry to hear about the situation you are in and hoped that everything worked out for yah...just thought it was funny you said you didn't want the spot anymore. I'm sure anyone on this sight would be more than thrilled to have a 30 acre parcel to hunt. Try not to be so quick to jump all over ppl for some simple criticism.
"And before you run your mouth AGAIN wild bill go to I work too hard for this"
Here's a friendly tip for you. Don't assume someone posting on this thread knows what you'r talking about based on information you stated on another thread that they may not have read or remembered. You obviously got your hackles up over an innocent comment and question. But you are wrong to do so. What you should do, rather than directing someone to go read another thread which at this point they probably don't care enough to bother to do...., is just make the clarification yourself on this thread. Easy to do and problem solved. Keep in mind, your ramblings may make perfect sense to you, but not necessarily others.
Gotcha bb. Thanks for the good criticism. I'll take it any day..lol.. Not afraid to admit if im wrong or an ass. And I appreciate the good criticism because sometimes I need it.. Thanks bb
Small I had landowners watch me shoot lol
Bowsite is a good group of guys. No reason to get all worked up. Sometimes you have to take a jab or two.
Shawn,
Have you ever seen a map of the property?
As I understand your posts, you have a 30 parcel which is part of a 200 acre lot.
Each side of a one acre square is 208.7ft. Twenty five one acre square lots, end to end, equal one mile, 5280ft. Another five acres(30) leaves you short of two miles by about three quarters of a mile. You drove two miles to get to this other location, from where you located your camera. The people village was only twenty five yards from a road, and I guess the trash was clearly visible, right?
I'm just wondering if your landowners know their property lines themselves. I had an encounter with a landowner on property adjacent to where I had permission. He was clearly off his land but tried to tell me he owned it. I suggested he check the GIS maps for his town to see where the town said his lines are. You can do the same thing over the internet. At this point, you may be able to educate those landowners as to who owns that people village. Should it not be them, you might get the permission back.
Honestly I was wondering the same thing. How did they not know all of this was there.. She seemed very upset but he didn't.. I'm going to check into it more and I I find out its not there's it will kind of be a relief for me.. But seriously who does that to the woods. I went back there yesterday to pull some trash out and you should see some of the rubs I Ra into.. Really sad such a prime spot destroyed by asses..
Super classy Yukon roz.. Thanks for the offer of the help!!
Sure did.. I brought my daughter with me and I grabbed it without her looking and tossed it.. I kept telling her keep your eye out for deer sign. When we got to it I said lets stop and take a break.. She then spotted it and was ecstatic. Thought she had found a shed.. I told her how proud I was of her and how good she did.. She also helped me build a new blind in a different spot yesterday.. Its all chewed up from critters and you can tell its older but its still cool. The rubs in the area are insane as you can see in my pics above
Dude, short education on homeless travel...usualy only at night,in after sunset out before sunrise depending on the area..you said there are train tracks around, that's their i95...you probably never noticed the people around town with backpacks, chances are theyre not kids looking for a hostel in the alps...the smart ones blend right in...im good friends with a few that got crapped on by the economy, have jobs but barely pay enough to survive...lifes a bitch.
This spot there's no tracks at.. That's my main spot.. Skidder trail, my rock gb and where I got my big buck. This spots across town.. But there's a road in the side and you can see where they enter.
Not sure I'd take my kid in there with me if I thought there might be anybody around....
Its clearly been vacant for a while.. All the tents were destroyed and I was walking in on fresh snow and there were no tracks.. If I thought for a second anybody was there or would show up I wouldn't of brought her there
"The homeless are easily frightened. But soon they will be back... and in greater numbers." Sorry, couldn't help the Star Wars reference
What a mess. If it were me I would walk away and not look back. No hunting spot is worth that much hassle.
Good luck.
I found a few areas like that on state land in Ridgefield...tents etc...I think it is kids building forts,,,,high schoolers that party...I would bet they use it in the summer or warmer months....there are not homeless people in this area I am referring too
