And so it starts.........
Oh no, I saw a clip on facebook promoting one that you could mount multiple bolts, I think like 5, to make it a semi automatic. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Meh, they only approved it for gun season. Which is where it belongs.
Rut they are trying to get it passed in Archery here. Go on Crossman air"bow" site.
LOL. At this point why does it matter what is used ? Dec 6. 1930 is long gone , a distant memory for many especially the hunting industry. Take your pick Madison , Milwaukee, Greenbay, Wausaw , doesn't matter which show you attend just walk around and look at all the stuff the industry is selling for hunting . If someone is interested in starting a list on what should be banned let me know . Also let the guy from UW In Madison know that we will need a few more deer when the blow gunning starts. LOL
LTL JimBow - you mentioned 12/6/30. I wonder how many fellows on this site know the significance of that date? For certain quite a few might, but I wonder how many really would. What percentage? Fifty? Twenty-five? Ten?
Maybe 5 percent these days. Thing that matters is some remember reading about that day and its brought us here!
Another weapon to use that will disconnect more hunters from how it all began. The most important thing we as true hunters can do. Is to make sure the Animals thrive and we do what we can to balance everything out, that way this heritage can continue. Just as how it all began on that special day.
I can't find any way cross guns are related to archery either but they are legal now. If it generates $$, they will be here eventually.
woodsdweller you sure are a snarky guy.
The possibility of it passing into the archery season is more than likely not gonna happen. I could however see it rolled into wi gun season. Probably a ways out before that happens. Watch for other states to push this in. It's gonna happen
They'll adjust the archery season to the "non-firearm" season.
Yeah, sure glad crossbows aren't bows and are being tracked separately (said with tongue in cheek). Wisconsin Outdoor News has had a number of stories and interesting letters to the editor in recent weeks of more importance, including problems with "print your own" tags, deer registration (or lack thereof) and other whitetail issues. Instead of the state issuing decent tags at the licensing agent, sounds like they'll be eliminating the requirement to write a confirmation number on and instead you'll just slit those "print your own" tags. Problem solved! (Tongue now stuck to other cheek).
""Some here suggest the WI archery deer season would implement a “greater weapon” season??????? "
It already happened when xbows became all-inclusive. Now I'll read about the "The Hyperbole, drama and emotion... " that they are not all-inclusive. Two year trial done. Check. No changes. Check. Same exact season structure. Check. Lipstick on a pig. Check. All-inclusive. Checkmate. Greater weapon and they are going nowhere.
Never say never on these newer items. WI caved once (xbows). Some states held firm and did not.
From the article, "The Pioneer Airbow enhances everything enthusiasts enjoy about archery hunting ..." Seriously?
You know, I never heard about any meeting notices, meetings being held, or conclusions resulting from the meetings discussing any extension of the 2 year trial for crossbows. Maybe it is about time to schedule some.
Face it, it is all about economics for the manufacturers, distributors, dealers, walmarts, etc, etc. The old timers on this site are the only ones that care anymore.
First off, crossbows are closer to muzzle loaders than they are to archery and have no place during an archery season. They are however seemingly here to stay so I'll get over it and stop bitching about it. Now, with that being said, I could see states in the future legalizing these airbow a during archery season just because of all the $ they have behind them. I hope that never happens. If they are legalized during the rifle season I will buy one and use it during rifle season. It looks like a fun weapon and is definitely still a lesser weapon than a rifle. I really have zero desire to ever shoot an animal with a bullet but I'd like to try shooting one with this thing. I see nothing wrong with them being used during gun season but I hope if it's included as an option for that season they write the legislation so that it will always be excluded from archery season.
"You epitomize it. Lots of words and no substance. "
Yeah Ronny, you've always had a hard time coming to grips that xbows are all-inclusive regardless of the wordsmith-lipstick on the pig and it will stay that way. That dang truth - a concept that continues to be foreign to you...
Regarding 12/6/30, there lots of those long before that historic day. Just did not happen during a formal season.
Blaze pink was a non problem that someone in this state deemed needed fixing. The airbow could just as well be.
I don't think anyone is worrying right now. The possibility is there and something to keep an eye out for in the future.
"the Pioneer can be cocked with two fingers (and decocked just as easily), and fires 8 shots in the same amount of time it takes to fire three from a crossbow, all at a blazing 450 FPS." If the above statement is true the cross bow is trash compared to the air bow . There is nothing in place , no tool , or filter / organization to stop this from being approved for use in the WI deer archery season .
I’m busting up laughing – This is a tremendous let down . They have been working so hard on improving the cross bow , loading and unloading , making it lighter , faster, all for nothing , absolute failure for the cross bow engineer . The Air Bow does it all with ease , and it looks better It took just 1 year for the cross bow to have another weapon pass it up.
Someone mentioned the idea of focusing on the deer , making sure they can accommodate the many ideas and weapons that are to come ,,, good idea . You can’t keep up with what’s coming next . Interesting thing, Roy Case was blazing a trail , a pioneer , what ever you want to call it . Is that what these guys are doing ? Are they pioneers ?
The real reason crossbows became legal and are skyrocketing in popularity is because they are easy - period. People don't want to invest the time it takes to become a bowhunter and the crossbow makes that possible by essentially eliminating the need to practice. A crossbow Hunter is a better shot at longer distances on the day they buy it compared to 90% of vertical bowhunters. Me included.
Human nature is to constantly improve / make things easier. The enemy is us.
If an air powered bow is am 'improvement' based on my comment above, is it really that far fetched to worry about the slippery slope?
Woodsdweller is it safe to assume you will be attending the WTA event this weekend? I am sure you know this air bow is a topic they are discussing at the board meeting??
Tracker66 - I agree completely with your post. You are, IMO, 100% correct. People want it easy, and look for the easiest way to reach a goal. Well said.
"There is nothing in place , no tool , or filter / organization to stop this from being approved for use in the WI deer archery season ."
Pffft, nothing to worry about. As long as they designate the airbow deer hunting season (that could take place at the same time archery deer season does) a magical "separate season" everything will be fine just like with crossbows. Then if they find that airbows are taking too many deer they can just shorten the airbow season and leave the archery season untouched, also just like with crossbows. That should be right about the same time that monkeys fly outta my butt....
Definitely something flying from your "butt." Lots of hot air with those words but certainly accompanied by a stench. Tell us all what you do to address this or other issues. Nothing but blowhards too lazy to get off their rear ends to do anything but whine on the Internet. Pathetic.
LMAO!!Be careful on that ice. Bring your mittens it could be cold.
Every ice derby around here has been canceled for a month.
Post some pics woods. Can you believe what that dude won it with!! I bet he had sinkers in it!
Yeah let's all get up there, there's tons of thing going on!
I live recycling!
It's the end of the world as we know it . I see a one season for all in the future . Use or change weapon as you wish during the season . Even though I don't think it really matters because hunting is on its way out . JMO
Rc, you were the grand marshal of the xbow, 2 year, seperate but full inclusion season. Year 2 is over, going forward nothing will change with xbows. I see a 1 buck tag per hunter, per year, choose your weapon. The longbow guys most be livid. Then again we have a primitive 10 day ml season with a 200 yard range. Bottom line? Follow the $$$$..both mfg and state license sales with an agenda of 15 dpsm for regen. So toot your xgun horn rc, the best deer state on the planet will be ruined by this crap and only saved by landowners saying Nope, not happening here.
Bowhunting begin to die when compounds were created, then crossbows. Just let it go guys.
Today, bowhunting and bowhunting culture only remains within a small die hard fraternity. Bowhunting is semantics to the rest of you, and nobody really cares anymore.
Wisconsin had it right with the lesser weapon rule, which means the crossbow could be used during any season, a gun was legal, which made a lot of sense,,,, of course the inevitable came..... I also agree with November, they will look at the stats, and go for a one buck rule, rather than cut the xbow season shorter.........
The genie is out of the bottle so to speak,,,,, I am not that good of a hunter, so for me to get one buck, is a big deal, but I can see the airbow coming here,,,,, I really can,,,,,
I do not agree with Missouri at all about the compounds,,,, to me, still shooting recurves, the compound introduced archery to so many, and built a strong membership of archers, and yes, if you pull a bow back, you are an archer, no matter what the discipline is.......
one thing to remember, my county like many, still do not meet their goals, on reducing the deer numbers, lots of doe tags left over, so with that said, I think that is an argument, to allow crossbows all the time......
This weekend at the fish derby I worked, deer hunting still the big topic, and most guys that I talked to, simply said, they went to the crossbow, because it was easy and fun,,,,,,,,,,,,
I think the x bow is here to stay,,,,,, hunt the way you like, hunt legal,,,,,,,,,
November, year 3 of full inclusion is already over. The new law allowing crossbows during the same days as the archery season began in 2014.
Spot on November and Naz. Ronny (woodsdweller, Howatt, rickflare, davebow, et al 300+ times) says it will never happen with these new fangled items but he also said full-inclusion of xbows would not happen and that is what we have. And as HunterR said, just add a concurrent season and separate license and poof, we're golden.
Ice fishing was really good up north this weekend. Hope you did well Ronny.
"While you stopped posting under your "neverbaits" handle, your lack of value added replies follows you like a fart in an elevator. "
Ronny swings and he misses. Never an alt here Ronny. You know I have food plots too and private land. An epic fail on your part trying to find others who feel the need to post under alts. Perhaps one of your sons who post under alts and get booted as often as you do?
Hey, with the number of cheerleaders showing up here, maybe we can get the bus to head to Madison where they can attempt to make a difference?
I couldn’t make the WTA meeting this year . I did hear they were discussing ideas and ways to keep the bow and the hunt with a bow from looking like fishing / fishing contest … Also,, What’s up with fishing all year around, never ending season . What about the air gun for fishing ?
