I was always against them, however now with crossbows taking over the archery seasons I am all for giving the animals a break.

I was going to ask how everyone felt about the survey going out a year earlier then what had been planned. Does everyone like them or dislike them. I will be honest, I like seeing younger bucks make it threw the year. But I hunt nothing but public land in the NWL for bow then hit the Yoop for gun.

We have had APR's in our area for 4 years and I have seen our over all herd improve. More does, more younger bucks and definitely some larger racked bucks. I understand it isn't for everyone but it seems to work in our area.

I agree on there being more bucks but way less deer over all. Our doe population is pitiful to say the least.

My area saw a ton of does but very few bucks. I managed to fill my tag but not with bow unfortunately and not in the Yoop. I did let two little buck walk painful with a empty freezer while bowhunting. One night i had 11 does in the food plot at the end of Oct not a buck insight that was in the Yoop. It seems spotty up north but I've been hearing good things about deer numbers. Maybe except along the lake the winter wasnt that bad. Brings a sense of hope and promise for next year. Maybe instead of two tags how about a single tag season.

I saw a pretty good number of does in the Yoop this year during gun. But No bucks. It should be better this year.

Anyone heard any rumors that the doe tags will still be off table for the entire UP

Call Chad Stewart, with the DNR and ask him. He is a nice guy to speak with and he will let you know.

X2 on calling Chad.

I agree Chad is a nice guy but he won't know whether or not there will be antlerless tags in the UP next year until the NRC finalizes the antlerless quotas, which usually occurs at the June meeting. Taking them off the table was a social decision made by the NRC, the DNR did not feel there was any biological justification for doing so.

Razor, I was checking out one of my favorite spots not to far from there this past gun season. I found very little sign of deer in areas I have hunted the past 40 plus years. But it is getting better. At least this time I didn't have any wolf sightings like in the past. I ended up hunting over by Stagger lk.
