March camping?

My wife and I (from WY) might be in southern CO or New Mexico in a couple weeks. We'd have horses, and a larger trailer. Wondering if there is any good camping/riding to be done that early? Perhaps BLM?
If you have any ideas, please let me know.

The Gila Primative Area northeast of Silver City would have what you want. It is not high elevation and I doubt there is more than a skiff of snow on the highest north facing areas.

I figure a lot of the forest service campgrounds are still closed for the season. Lota snow!

Yes, A lot of BLM fences closed until APR 15.

Check with the NRA Whittington Center near Raton. They have year round camping easy access and lots of areas nearby to explore. Not sure about riding at the Whittington Center though.

Lot of State Parks are open, some aren't very horse friendly though.
