I am giving serious thought to getting pro-active about the excess yotes around here. I am in NE WI. Who wants these guys for the hides? Or where do I take them? I'd hate to waste them. Thanks.

My dogs are starting to blow their coats now. If the yotes are like them and shedding the pelts will be worth little if anything.
Link is to a fur buyer and his rout and times for pickup.

Thank you much. I am not in it for the money, and not sure when I'll get around to it. I want to be certain I have a place to go with them when the time comes. I rather have someone just come and get them, but if need be I can skin 'em.

Well, .now that I looked, the nearest place to me is 90 miles round trip. Prolly not doing that.

They can be trapped througout the year. Pelts won't be prime but excess yotes can spread disease in a hurry. They reproduce like crazy so dont be afraid to trap hard.

May be able to find a trapper in your area who will take them saving you a trip to a buyer.

If prime, should be able to sell them to a local trapper in the round. If you don't want to deal with it, let a trapper onto your land.

I think you can shoot them all year but the trapping season is now closed. Freeze your hides and get the truck route of a fur buyer maybe sell the hides or trade for gloves. Despise coyotes but hate to just throw a good hide away. Use the money for snares or bullets.

You can trap them all year on your own land also or as an agent for the land owner. Public is closed to trapping though. Just a FYI

Tweed is right, if you want them gone but don't want to bother with killing them, let someone do it for you. I met a guy two falls ago that loves to hunt and trap coyotes. Wrote him a permission slip and he's taken 41 off my inlaws properties in the last two years. That's 41 plus babies that would still be there if he wasn't taking care of them. All it cost me was 30 sec to write the slip. Last fall I saw 2 all season. Before that it wasn't uncommon for me to see at least ten in a one week hunt. I've never been able to connect on one with the bow because they are so dang Wiley. This guy I have is a freakin killer. Find one like him and with a smaller amount of property you'll never see another.

The other thing I generate and can't find someone to take is trapped coons. Live- have-a-heart.
Where can I find someone who wants them?

Put their head in a 160 and skin them.
You should really check out Trapperman.com

Someone posted on here a while back looking for places to trap either yote or coon. Not sure which. Not sure what thread it was in.

The problem isn't how to get them...but what do do with those harvested.

There is a place in Duluth that will flesh, prep, and tan them. (and just about anything else) If I remember correctly I think it would cost about $60. Neighbor told me about another place I think north of EauClaire a ways that is even cheaper. If anyone is interested I can ask him for more details.

Doorknob, For the coon, they aren't worth anything till Mid October. When it gets cold, they will den up and will come out during warm spells. During denning, the longer they are den'd, the yellower they get. They are no good when they get yellow. I didn't trap this year because fur price was way down. Coon were 6 bucks + or -. Till the fur price starts going up, I'm not wasting the fur unless people have problems and need to get rid of critters.

Shedhead, USA Foxx and Furs in Duluth is one of them. This is one a friend of mine has used and was happy with. He said they even skin the feet out in their prep fee. They are the one you can just click to bring up their web site.
I will see if I can get the name and location of the other (cheaper) one that is in NW Wisconsin.
When you do it either get a nose ring installed or add one later yourself if you plan to hang it on a wall. Good job getting your son involved in the skinning too.
I don't think this is the one he meant but prices seem reasonable. It is in Shiocton. I just stumbled into it.

I just found out the one in NW Wisconsin that I heard about was just the cousin of a friend doing my neighbor a favor. Not really in the business.
But you will see others if you google: Fur tanning Wisconsin
